The PDX Radical Childcare Collective is in the process of forming and we invite everyone to come to our second meeting Saturday 2/21 at 12:30pm. It will be held at the Calvary church at 126 NE Alberta, and in room childcare will be provided.
Our current goal is to start off providing care for activist organizations and insta-action care, and then eventually mold into more needed roles. We believe this is an important step as parents voices are often not at the table when movement decisions are being made that have a great impact on their lives.
We are in the process of discussing ways in which to become a credible organization that families can trust, and can potentially do so by outreaching to not just radical parents, but those that have been left to the sidelines of movements. Our goal is to network with neighborhood organizations, build relationships, have open volunteer training, etc to aid the building of a community where having loved ones and reproductive choices doesn't effect one's participation in that community.
Children must also be included in movements in age-appropriate ways that respect their autonomy as amazing independent beings that are quite powerful.
We would love to have your input at our Saturday meeting, but if you can't make it, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
