Arrest Bush and Cheney

We Must Know
Like cockroaches
Like cockroaches
Protest in Portland, Oregon will start on Thursday at high noon across from the fed building and will continue until the war criminals are brought to Justice. Our group called "Individuals for Justice" call on all citizens to join us if you can, otherwise when bush/cheney/rice/rummy or any member of the bush administration comes to your city/ town for a gig, go and protest their presence in your community. They should be hounded for the rest of their lives.

We will use the time at the fed building to plan or announce other actions that must happen, going for a visit to a congressional office with our demands etc. This project will allow you to do something to bring these monsters to justice and accountability. We need your help and assistance in getting the word out that this is an ongoing protest until we get the torturers and murderers before a judge and jury of their peers. Republicans and Democrats must stand up and be accountable. They all need to explain what, how much, when, and who told them of torture, invasion, and murder of the men and woman of our armed forces and the over 1,000,000 civilians of Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Gaza.

Veterans for Peace will be there, I am a member of Vietnam Veterans Against the War and will be there---the Pissed Off Grannies will come, some members of Code Pink will make an appearance. This is the beginning of our effort to call to all of good will----Arrest Bushco and any democrat who knew and said nothing about illegal acts. Harry Reid and Pelosi got to go. Democrats need new leadership in the Senate and the House. Can you just imagine how much we could get done if Bernie Sanders was Majority Leader and Rep. Boxer was House Speaker?

Pinochet was rich and thought to be untouchable but he was brought to justice though it took years. Persistence accomplished this. Veterans For Peace has the following to say on the matter:

Resolution On Prosecuting George W. Bush, Dick Cheney And Other Bush Administration Officials For War Crimes, Crimes Against Peace and Crimes Against Humanity

Whereas the March 2003 invasion of Iraq was not only immoral but illegal, violating numerous U.S. and international laws, including but not limited to USC 2441 (War Crimes Act of 1996), the Geneva Conventions, the Nuremberg Tribunal Charter, the U.N. Charter, the Laws and Customs of War on Land, and

Whereas, the Veterans For Peace "Case for Impeachment" details six pages of violations of the above laws and is still but a partial listing, and

Whereas, the spineless dereliction of duty of the U.S. Congress may well allow Bush, Cheney and other administration officials to avoid impeachment before they leave office in January of 2009, and

Whereas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Robert Jackson, appointed by President Truman to be the Chief Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Tribunals following World War II, stated so prophetically, "... let me make clear that while this law is first applied against German aggressors, the law includes, and if it is to serve a useful purpose it must condemn aggression by any other nations, including those which sit here now in judgment." and

Whereas, the anguished cry of a village sheik in Iraq must be answered when he implored, "You say you live in a democracy. How can this be happening to us?" and

Whereas, as citizens of the United States we are complicit in the crimes of the Bush administration in Iraq because we cannot claim ignorance of these crimes, and

Whereas, for the sake of humanity, for the sake of history, and to absolve even a small measure of the complicity we each share as U.S. citizens, we must do everything in our power to hold our leaders accountable and bring them to justice.

Therefore Be It Resolved that Veterans For Peace will take every appropriate measure on our own and in coalition with others to insure that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and responsible members of their administration are prosecuted for war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity before any court claiming jurisdiction in this country or abroad, for as long as they shall live.

WE do not think for a moment that this public information stand is going to directly result in the arrest and trial etc of Bush & Co. We don't. This stand is one of a myriad of small actions that together may end up resulting in enough pressure to bring at least some of the Bush cabinet and staff to justice in their own lifetimes. It is a vehicle for keeping War Crimes Justice issues in front of the people of Portland and a place to bring ideas and discussions and to find networking opportunities and inspiration.

All persons of good will are welcome but violence and advocacy of violence are not.

thanks for hope, peace vet 10.Feb.2009 16:13

all the quiet clamor in congress and it just made me sick to see how cowardly they stood up and pranced- doing nothing and not intending to do anything.

So thanks for the remind about pinshit. And lets keep Kissinger in our "prayers" perhaps it WILL take a long time. Just a hope that it happens before they're "too old to have a trial."

Its the year of the Ox: slowand sure footed, methodical and PATIENT

"So give 'em a trial and THEN hang 'em" (an old hollywood western line)
