FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Red and Black Café Communique
2/1/09

Happy February to all of our comrades! This is the second widespread, intentional communication from the Event Booking Committee at the Red and Black Café. Here's what your friendly worker-owned anarchist café has cooking up this month. Please note that all events start at 7pm unless otherwise noted.

PRWA "KNOW YOUR RIGHTS" PAMPHLET RELEASE // 2.4.09
The Portland Restaurant Workers Association will be hosting a discussion on the rights of restaurant workers here in Portland. They will also be releasing their brand new, 41-page pocket-sized "Know Your Rights: A Restaurant Worker's Survival Guide" and indulging in the fact that it's WORKER WEDNESDAY! Come join them and learn some things.

SPECIAL FILM SCREENING: ENTER THE DRAGON // 2.18.09
Bruce Lee. That's all you need to know. Eat some food and watch a movie. You owe it to yourself.

RED AND BLACK BREAKFAST!! // 2.14.09
You wanted it, and now you have it. The Red and Black Café will now be serving real breakfast food every Saturday morning, starting on Valentine's Day (aww). What kind of breakfast, you ask? Tofu scramble, rosemary garlic potatoes, biscuits and gravy, corn meal waffles, mimosas and more. AND, the festivities will be accompanied by Saturday morning cartoons. None of that neo-contemporary shit - we're talking old school cartoons. What could be any better? How about the fact that it's sliding scale? Is your mouth watering yet? Good, now come eat some delicious food, 9am-3pm.

QUEER MOVIE NIGHT IS BACK! // 2.17.09
Remember Queer Movie Night at the old space? Well, it now makes its valiant return! The title is undecided as of yet, but keep your eyes peeled to our Myspace page, the Indymedia calendar and our events board at the café. This will happen on the THIRD TUESDAY of every month!

BENEFIT FOR GAZA // 2.19.09
Want to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and the larger Palestinian struggle against imperialism? This show will feature some excellent anarchist electronic artists from Austin including Steve Arceri and Human C0ntact. Local singer-songwriters Shelby Sifers and Tansy Tarweed will also be in the lineup. Literature will be available, as well as a zine written by a local radical about her trip to Palestine. All money raised will go to Palestine Solidarity Project for prisoner support, which is desperately needed.

THE PEACH-COLORED JUG SMUGGLERS! // 2.24.09
XVX old time string band juggernauts are coming to Portland! And they're playing with the Dapper Cadavers! It's going to be a fun show... it also happens to be PRISONER LETTER WRITING NIGHT. Come at 7pm to write some letters and hang out for the show. You won't regret it.

ADAM BROCK, CAMPING PARTY, ATTICA ATTICA // 2.27.09
Another fun music show! It will probably be a benefit for... well, someone or something. One thing will be certain: there will be so many acoustic guitars, it's going to be epic. Yes, acoustic guitars can be epic. Remember Against Me! Before they sold out? Of course you do.

Keep an eye out for the printed calendars around time. You can't miss them. Also, we're booking for March. Want to book an event? Email us at:  redandblackbooking@yahoo.com
