Next Portland City Auditor?
Next Portland City Auditor?
The city Auditor is resigning in May. This position is a powerful position that is in charge of auditing (or ignoring) city projects and runs the Independent Police Review.

The powers that be want a special election held that is in 4 months. This is bad as most people who can qualify for auditor will be busy doing Taxes and not able to run. Also, this is not enough time for people to qualify for Public Financing. Which leaves an auditor who is elected by the PDC, business and the Portland Police Union.

If you can please attend the following meeting and support Portland Publicly Financed Elections by asking that the election happen in September (this will give time for good progressive people to run for this office).

If you are unable to attend please call ( 503-823-3546 ) and email (
andrew.carlstrom@ci.portland.or.us ) the auditors office expressing your support for a system that allows for a Publicly Financed Elections to represent you.

to contact the whole City Council re: items scheduled for discussion 13.Jan.2009 23:22

I had some trouble using the email address shown above. Through www.portlandonline.com it's easy to contact Sam Adams et al. Through links, after sending the Mayor a note on the auditor's election there was a note:

"If you have written about an item that is scheduled for discussion by the City Council and would like your comments shared with all Council members, please address them to Council Clerk Karla Moore-Love ( kmoore-love@ci.portland.or.us )."

Off to do that, presently...
