FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Red and Black Café Communique
Greetings from the Red and Black Café! This is the first widespread, intentional communication from the Event Booking Committee, on behalf of the entire collective. Look for them every month, as they will include the going-ons of the month as well as important general information.
RED AND BLACK ANNIVERSARY EXTRAVAGANZA! // January 10, 2009
It's been just about one year since we reopened in our new space after being closed for several months. Reminiscent of the Spanish Revolution, we're going to party like it's 1936! Unfortunately, we won't have any tanks or bottles of champagne, but we will have a huge party!
It will include music by Adelit@s, Tansy Tarweed, Stumptown Strugglers and more. We'll also be offering free coffee all day, $3 dragon noodle bowls, drink specials, delicious cake from our friends at Cherry Bomb Bakery, chair massages by Jen and a special surprise! The party will start around 5pm. Don't be late!
FILM SCREENING: THE TAKE // January 15, 2009
We had some projector issues on Christmas Day and were unable to screen this film. So we've re-scheduled it for January. The Take is a documentary about Argentinian workers who occupied their factory and reopened it as a worker co-op! Hopefully we'll see your radical smiling faces there.
PRISONER LETTER WRITING // January 27, 2009
We've got comrades sitting in prison, and it really makes their day when they receive mail. So why not take some time out of your schedule to write a letter? This happens on the last Tuesday of every month. Solidarity is our weapon.
PIZZA NIGHT // January 28, 2009
Sorry if you've been jones-ing for some pizza, but after some delay, pizza night will be returning! Delicious homemade vegan pizza straight from the Spokes Pizza recipe book. This also falls, coincidentally, on Worker Wednesdays...
Keep an eye out for the printed calendar, which will be posted in the window of the café, as well as by the events board (above the computers). They will also be posted in places like Laughing Horse, Blackrose Infoshop, Citybikes, Food Fight, Star E. Rose, and more.
You can also check out our Myspace page, while we work on our new website. http://myspace.com/redandblackcafe
We're beginning to book for February. Want to host an event? E-mail us at: email@example.com.
Oh yeah, and come eat some food!
