Ecotopian Yeti

it is still moving right . Example the religious fanatics that put pressure in California to take away a civil right. We still need to see who will work under an Obama/Biden administration. My guess is it will be a third Clinton like term... with more NeoLiberalism. We needed a real revolution not just a change from red to blue on a stupid map. I doubt we will still have universal healthcare, universal education (up to PhDs), restoring the stewardship of the commons and ratifying the U.N.'s "Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples"

wouldn't read too much into the gay marriage movement 10.Nov.2008 13:33

marriage for everybody (soon to be mandatory)

In California Massachusetts etc. the gay population IS BEING MOVED TO THE RIGHT by being assimilated into the normal ruling-class-approved petit bourgeois institutions. Thirty years ago there was a parallel underground gay society, starting in the '90s it is being systematically dismantled. Today's strategic rightists know the scientific fact that gay people can't be eliminated (straight people have -gasp- gay kids every day) so they must be recuperated into the system.
