will the cops raid a peaceful protest @ city hall?

After leaving the protest at City Hall I noticed cops gathering in critical mass-like numbers at downtown precinct. I am concerned of a violent action on their part.
It's a very pleasant night. Warm with a cool breeze and no rain. I hope more concerned people who like the 1st Amendmemt will support this protest for a right to simply exist in a space in the city of Portland. Oregon.

We pride ourselves on doing things better... smarter than other cities. We consider ourselves an informed population that demands their elected officials actually work on projects. We hope that at the meeting with Mayor Tom Potter tomorrow he will be reminded of our Constitutional rights.

Portland's City Hall is at SW 4th and Jefferson. Over 140 protesters are camping there now, lend your support if you can.

our eye's are upon the PoPiggies 13.May.2008 06:14

Portland Elder Activist for Social Justice

don't worry, our eye's are upon them and will catch any misbehavior or
abuse of power committed by Tom's Thugs. we are a group of committed
elder social activists that have arranged--during the duration of this
siege--to position ourselves in adjacent building where we can do our
filming unmolested by the PoPiggies ((unless, of course, they kick the
door down and drag us off to "reeducation camp"?)) and are posed to get
the best shots and best filming angle possible. so, let the PoPiggies
do their thing ((usually a grand f*&k-up to add to their already much
touted fallen state))...our all-seeing eye's will see!

BTW, in footage taken the other day, we think we've capture footage of
one of the goofy cops that was involved in the infamous baby-pepperspray
incident of 2002 in which the City of Portland paid a king's treasure
tove in settlements due to gross abuse of power. This guy is now big
jugbutted character with flabby ass that wiggles like bowl of Jello and
grins like he's showing off to his dentist. A real nutjob if ever there
was one in uniform. Anyway, he was prancing around as if he thorougly
enjoyed tormenting the homeless. when we put the footage together, we
will show old footage of his past exploits with split frame, so local
TV will be enticed to use our work on their reporting...added touch to
further show Testosterone Tommy Tom and Rosie "not a real gal" Sizer for
exactly what they are, as they ineffectively "manage" their troops and
let the public enjoy one more major f*&k-up by Tom before his partners
in City Hall recoil in revolved at his utter stupidity.

as they say...STAY TUNED!

Oh, BTW2...not to disparage anyone with a jugbutt out there, but in this
case, the comment was to showcase the cops, who are suppose to be in good
physical condition and hide behind their silly moniker of being "Portland's
finest" and point out that one of their previous offenders ((obviously he's
hanging on due to Robert King, et al putting retirement benefits ahead of
social justice and constitutional rights)) has deteriorated greatly, and
in fact, may be too damned old to be an effective cop anymore. LET THE
PUBLIC SEE FOR THEMSELVES AND DECIDE IT OWN THEIR OWN...pictures tell a lot!

Update 13.May.2008 06:50

one of the campers

As of 6:45 this morning the camp has still not been raided by the police. Tom Potter will be meeting with 5 representatives from the encampment at 3:00 this afternoon. So people should come down to support and show support this afternoon through tonight, because the raids could come at anytime.

{Rosie "not a real gal" Sizer} Can we please refrain from using transphobic/sexist insults? Even if it is slung at a cop.

Tom Potter is an old beat cop who helped develop community policing when he was Police Chief under Mayor Bud Clark. His has strong sensitivity to the emotional pulse of the community. His strongest base of support, when he was running for Mayor, where his Neighborhood Association connections.

Most police officers prefer dealing with more serious crimes than some guy with nowhere to sleep. At the same time many neighborhood associations are fear based when the subject of homelessness comes up. Folks tend to take the most outrageous incidents people have seen and use emotion to embellish it. Police cannot help but become biased through the emotional communications of those meetings and continually dealing with homeless people when they are in crisis. We are one of the last remaining groups it is legitimate to be prejudice against.

Now the most influential group at city hall is the Portland Business Alliance (PBA). They have had more meetings at city hall than any other group. Mike Kykendal became a V.P. for PBA about the same time as Tom Potter became Mayor. He is a former deputy D.A. for Multnomah County and has been a close friend of one of Mayor Potter's top policy people Austin Raglioni.

One of Mr. Kykendal's goals in lobbying city hall was to get the title 14 sit-lie law enforced on Portland city streets. Mayor Potter set Ms. Raglioni to appoint the Downtown Public Safety Action Committee (PSAC) tasked with developing a new enforceable sit-lie law.

The PSAC was appointed by Mayor potter originally but became a open meeting and they pushed the work of Sit - Lie into a sub committee called Street Access For Everyone (SAFE), the irony is all along it was meant to exclude some folks from the streets.

SAFE included people from both sides of the issue, attorneys and representatives of elected officials. They came to a set of conditions, most of which had been suggested earlier in the PSAC meetings, "Five Strategies for a more livable Portland" which needed to be met before the Title 14 Obstruction as a Nuisance sit-lie ordinance would be enforced. The Mayors office agreed it wouldn't be enforced until all five parts were implemented.

The Mayors office has broken their promise reached by consensus of the SAFE group appointed by the Mayor through Austin Raglioni, friend of Mike Kykendal.

The best laid plans, developed through community involvement, can be kicked to the curb by a lame duck Mayor when the interest of his policy makers and their lobbyist friends take control. The Mayor ran for office claiming to increase public involvement, listen to the voices of the excluded and empower them. In the end the SAFE committee has been a sham. We have once again been conned.

yknow

just got a phone call from someone down at city hall saying that the word is that the cops will come to clear everyone out this evening... if you can get down there by rush hour, support is needed.
