we're on day five of a 24 hour sidewalk sit-in at city hall. it's been too long coming, but advocates of homeless rights are urged to come. police are sweeping sleep areas long left alone, and people are migrating to city hall to camp and protest until something is done to change the injustice and discrimination faced by our portland homeless neighbors. show up in solidarity and camp with us!

& call/e-mail Mayor Potter holding him accountable for keeping his promises to provide, safe, affordable, housing downtown, benches, bathrooms, and day centers, rather than criminalizing human life. it is cruel and unusual punishment to force someone who has no house to walk continuously and never stop to rest, or allow them a place where safe uninterrupted sleep can happen. there are too many empty buildings all over downtown, and no excuse is good enough to justify this continuous crime against humanity!
