i'm sorry that you find raw fruits and veggies offensive. truly you are missing out on one of life's great pleasures. Even if you think raw veganism is stupid why punish others for your idiotic belief... and further more why punish them for anything at all? Maybe cause their poor? Maybe cause they have limited access to food?

I have helped ABC No Rio (in nyc) in numerous programs to get music, photography and other art classes available to the general public. I am not co-opting anything, but merely including my natural evolution to raw veganism in a broader scope of issues that need addressing.
I happen to find myself in the privileged position of having access to an abundance of organic fruits and veggies. Instead or hoarding or throwing them in a dumpster I've decided to share them with the public. I have my reasons for avoiding the application of heat to these foods, most of which I doubt you give a shit about.
If you still have a problem with me doing this, why don't you come and express yourself to my face? Or does being a sarcastic divisive jerk all you have to offer?
For years when I participated in Food Not Bombs every week, I was asked why we didn't have meat in the food. "Our goal is to take food bound for the garbage bin, and use it to feed hungry people," I'd say. "Of course, not everyone on the streets is vegetarian, but dumpstering (or picking up donations of) old meat and serving it to the public isn't safe." Then, folks usually understood.
But, frankly, there are few times when I would have left our donated veggies uncooked -- as a asfety issue. Our food had often been sitting, waiting for pickup, since it was pulled from the shelf days ago. Sure, sometimes we'd get some gorgeous-looking overstock, but FNB food, in my experience, is too old and bacteria-frienly to be eaten raw. You all must have a heck of a donation set up, to be rescuing healthy veggies.
Yes actually I have a very reputable source for my food. I am a chef in a raw vegan kitchen and am able to use our left over weekly produce. I also have survived for many years, eating much of the produce I get from dumpsters, raw. Never gotten sick. I was dumpstered food well in water with a food grade hydrogen peroxide dilute. This kills any bad buggies as well as removes waxes applied to non organic produce. If you come to our meal and have any questions about the origins of food, I have no problem telling you the source. I don't want to make people ill, I want to make them well. I believe healthy people are happier people. I also believe happier people make more aware decisions. This awareness in our actions can truly make a change in our world.

Sorry lucy, I don't know what the heck you're talking about. I can't tell you how many times I've taken raw produce from food not bombs and that's been a large portion of my veggies for the week. Oh and remember all of those times that the other food not bombs have served green salads or fruit salads? I think that a raw fnb is a fantastic variety to be offered even if it was dumpstered, but in this case it sounds like anarchofembot has non-dumpster source for it so why all they hassle?
Geez... You'd think that some people in portland don't like people giving away food.
