Call Out For Resistance In Olympia

resist
Hello,

Many of you have already heard of the riot that took place in Olympia on Valentine's Day. If you saw anything inspiring in what happened, if you do not believe the police were justified in any of their actions or if you simply are ready, please listen. The police have issued a threat, printed in the Olympian newspaper, to the people involved in the riot. They intend to begin a witch hunt. They will no doubt use everything in their limited power to terrify a community. If they succeed in terrifying everybody, another period of darkness will descend.

Rather than lapse into despair and inaction, I am asking you all to stand up to them. I do not know, nor have I the capability to say what standing up to them means. But I know it is what we must do. The police expect zero-resistence from their herd of sheep and have grown used to always winning. They always win because they have conditioned everyone to never resist them, just like every good domesticator.

If the threats of the police against the community are legitimate (which I truly believe they are), Olympia is going to need every ounce of support it can get. I cannot say when nor can I say what support means. I know as little as you do. But I am watching the dark clouds move in under the sun, on the verge of blacking out the light that has been licking our faces here, at the edge of the water. Some of you may think there is nothing we can do. The police will do what they will, you say. Perhaps they will. But they need not have the way cleared for them. Every step of the way, they must meet fierce resistence. On EVERY front.

Action and inaction. Organization and chaos. Non-violence and violence. These are dichotomies which do nothing but make us fight each other. Regardless of what you think you might be classified as, we all should be resisting. Resistance is not exclusively physical in design (ie: "violent"). Resistance is not exclusive to anything. There is no need to adhere to a certain doctrine or dogma of resistence. Every avenue is as legitimate as the next one. The important part, however, is using them all at ONCE.

This is a battle we can win, given enough effort. People are listening. No one can escape seeing the effects of this system any longer. It is right in front of everyone's faces. The spectacle is growing weaker in its power. Its spell is beginning to break. And that process is out of our hands now. This system is starting to tear itself to pieces and will not stop or decrease in pace.

Do not let them get anyone.

And let them have a hard time trying.

Your loving friend,

Annie Nimmety

I think the tactic of outright opposition towards police really isn't in our best interest.
What I mean is, if youre thinking about things from the perspective of a cop, you're out there to keep order, protect people, and promote freedom and safety. Believe it or not, some cops really are comitted to these goals.
But good or bad, it would be difficult to be a cop and hear the sentiment of "fuck the police" being echoed on every street corner. Police are in the right to expect respect, because the job they do is one of the most difficult.

I'm not saying cops are saints, but they are people, and some people are corrupt.
Some waiters are assholes too, but you don't see a "fuck waiters" movement.

We need to start trying to get the cops back on OUR side, remind them and treat them like on of our own, and hold them accountable when they step out of line.
It is our job to watch our watchmen, but making sweeping generalizations of an entire profession is simply ignorant and destructive to everyone.

Physical Reality

Well nice try ..., but I don't think you're going to convince most of us. I've never seen a good argument in favor of the police, their job is to ensure order amongst lower classes so that the upper classes can continue their exploitation. The are no more right to expect respect than a whip-master. Who cares how tough their job is, though I don't think that it is very difficult, not only do I (considering what their job is for) wish them hard-ship, but I think that the job should be mad more difficult and dangerous until no one does it anymore. The last thing I want is "cops" on my side, until they are no longer cops they will be my enemy.

Defiance

Peoples with their orders are still people yeah... but they also do the wrong thing by locking up people. Just because they are part of a large gang (the cops) doesn't mean that they are free of any guilt when talking about taking away an otherones freedom. It doesn't mean that they go free from commiting the repression themselves. If no cop would agree with the current line of politics they would maybe have acted whole differently. But because they feel they have more power, they think they can shut everyone up if they feel like. Whether it is for keeping the peace or just trying to let not more troubles break out, at something like this evening. And at this point they should just have sought out what the hell happened out there. Then there would be no cars flying through the air at that time later.

People are angry and react heavilly. Thats their right, and just because these cops are acting wrong others should leave behind bars for years... if you think thats justice?!
