where can one find info on spy ware embedding, specifically, if one suspects that their computer has been invaded by spy ware?

2-How does it work? how can someone get your isp address?

3-if they do, can they then track you across the internet and see where you visited and what you did there?

4-is this legal?

5-where is the line crossed? is it possible for a private citizen to siply install spy ware in their computer and then secretly invade one's online journey?

The suggestions to use Firefox are good, as there are still a lot of spyware and malware applications that target Internet Explorer specifically.

As far as protecting your computer, the best program I have found for detecting and removing spyware and malware is called "Spybot Search & Destroy"

it is a free program, and can be downloaded here:

A lot of techies keep a copy of this on usb thumb drives for cleaning infected machines.
