Whose Taxes? 09.Nov.2007 13:59

Paula Greene

Whose Taxes? OUR TAXES!

Please check out www.wartaboycott.org and take action now, even if (especially if!) you get a "refund" every year.

It is time for taxpayers who oppose this war to join together in an act of nonviolent civil disobedience. If Congress will not cut off funds for Cheney/Bush illegal attacks and occupations, then we must deny this illegitimate regime ourselves. We can redirect our taxes to the real needs of real people.

The War Tax Boycott of 2008 will redirect resources from state sponsored terrorism to either two designated projects to provide healthcare services to Iraqi refugees (a Voices for Creative Nonviolence project) or to Katrina survivors (through Common Grounds); you may also redirect to a project of your own choosing, or to an escrow fund.

Redirecting any portion of your federal (war/privatization) taxes is an act of conscience. If you work for peace, how can you also pay for war?

Our strength is in numbers. Our numbers depend on each of us as individuals.

If the web site does not provide enough information, then please come to a free workshop: Monday, November 19th, at Laughing Horse Book Collective, 12 NE 10th Avenue (1/2 block north of East Burnside on 10th Ave).

"Few are guilty - but All are responsible."
