4) This week's summary of under-reported news

Compiled by Bob Nixon

Water wells at the Abu Shouk refugee camp in Darfur are running dry. A nuclear power construction surge is emerging from massive taxpayer subsidies, as well as the Price-Anderson Act, which limits the liability of the nuclear industry to $10 million in case of an accident. An integrated healthcare network, along with government subsidies, would relieve many urban hospitals' burden of providing "uncompensated care" to the uninsured, whith places many medical care providers in chronic financial trouble.

"Between The Lines" is a half-hour syndicated radio news magazine that each week features a summary of under-reported news stories and interviews with activists and journalists who offer progressive perspectives on international, national and regional political, economic and social issues. Because "Between The Lines" is independent of all publications, media networks or political parties, we are able to bring a diversity of voices to the airwaves generally ignored or marginalized by the major media.
