28 SECONDS: The Killing of Fouad Kaady
For 18 months, the police and the corporate media have claimed that the killing of Fouad Kaady was justified. They said he was on drugs. They said they feared for their lives. They said he threatened to kill them. They said officers "never violated policies or procedures."
We beg to differ.

RECLAIM POWER DVD 62 minutes
voices from the Camp for Climate Action 2006

Climate change is now a reality. Leading scientists across the world agree that in a 'business as usual scenario' we have no longer than 10 years to prevent 2-3 degrees of additional global warming that will lead to irreversible climatic changes with dramatic consequences for our planet.

However, in a world driven by profit and committed to unlimited economic growth, humanity seems very unwilling to change the course of the fossil fuel economy.

In the summer of 2006, the 5th hottest year ever recorded in recent history, 600 people convinced that there is no time to waste set up a Camp for Climate Action in the shadow of one of the biggest C02 emitters in Europe: Drax coal-fired power station in Yorkshire / UK.

With over one hundred workshops on a wide range of topics, the 10 day camp was a space of collective learning, sustainable living and taking direct action on the root causes of climate change. The gathering that showed practical low energy solutions in action, culminated in a day of protest and mass direct action in an attempt to shut down Drax.

There will also be information and a short announcement regarding the Convergence For Climate Action happening near the mouth of the Columbia River this August.

After RECLAIM POWER we will also be showing:
28 SECONDS: The Killing of Fouad Kaady

You've heard the lies. Now come and learn the truth.

For 18 months, the police and the corporate media have claimed that the killing of Fouad Kaady was justified. They said he was on drugs. They said they feared for their lives. They said he threatened to kill them. They said officers "never violated policies or procedures."

We beg to differ.

Believe it or not, this story is told in the officers' own words. And you won't even believe what you hear.

Convergence For Climate Action August 8-14 near the Mouth of the Columbia River 22.Jun.2007 19:46

Ant outreachwest@climateconvergence.org

The Columbia River is fueled by tributaries from across the west. Today, with massive fossil fuel development projects planned at the mouth of this iconic waterway, the Columbia is ground zero in the global struggle against the violence of the energy industry and for a livable climate future. This August, we are calling for a confluence of people from across the region, a regional "Convergence for Climate Action." Part networking and activist skills training, part community sustainability demonstration site, the convergence also aims to take collective action to stop the fossil fuel industry's regional expansion in its tracks.
With extreme weather, droughts, massive species extinctions, and melting ice caps becoming more of a reality each day, there is no time to lose in taking action against the root causes of climate change. We intend to bring individuals from across the West, environmental and social justice groups, local affected landowners, community activists and businesses together for this regional convergence, to create a space of collective empowerment to resist the fossil fuel empire and to push for "climate justice".
The convergence will be a mix of workshops, meetings, socializing, music, information sharing and action. With dozens of workshops in community organizing, our current energy state, climate and environmental justice issues, anti-oppression, and the latest techniques in sustainable living and design, participants will gain the skills and knowledge needed to forge a more sustainable planet. A space for childcare and children focused events will also be available for our toddler and up aged kids. This will be a place that encourages discussion on the situation that confronts us, what the solutions are, how we can achieve them and the diversity in tactics and actions we will need to get there.
We will not only be discussing the solutions to climate change, but also striving to create and live them during the event. We will put sustainability at the forefront of all our goals and responsibilities. Composting toilets, gray water systems, locally supplied food, recycling, reusing, veggie-powered shuttles and all the power coming from alternative technology will be used to lessen our impact and lower our carbon output. The convergence will be a living example of what a healthier life can look like.
To truly tackle climate change and enjoy the benefits of this new world, we must confront the fossil fuel empire as well as change our own lifestyles. Yes, we need to change light bulbs and stop flying across the country for the weekend, but we also need to join together to shift power away from vested energy industry interests that would watch the planet burn while counting the money they make from the fire. Thus, the convergence will be the perfect place to plug into a building crescendo of protests and actions planned throughout and in the days and months afterward.
The convergence will be situated near a community that is fighting a proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal on the Columbia River. LNG is different from natural gas - which we currently receive domestically and from Canada - because LNG involves extracting natural gas from Nigeria, Indonesia, Algeria, Iran, Qatar, Peru and Russia, and shipping it in a liquefied state across oceans to wealthy, highly fossil-fuel-dependent countries. Currently, LNG development is being met with local, community-based resistance due to the immense safety risks, environmental destruction, local economic impact, and social injustice related to this foreign fossil fuel. We are working with and supporting many of the local residents and concerned citizens in their campaign against LNG, as well as with activists resisting dams, highway expansions, nuclear and other forms of dirty and unjust energy.
This resistance movement against LNG has brought together tree-huggers, loggers, grandmothers, teachers, landowners and business alliances, all fighting together on the same side against the fossil fuel industry. We hope to build off this collaboration of diverse groups to come together and create the world we want to see.
A convergence of this nature is essential to finding concrete, positive actions that every person can take to create a real solution for global climate change. We aim to bridge the divides of nationality, religion, race, class, gender, and sexuality to create a truly collaborative effort, creating a small-scale version of the larger culture we hope to foster. We also believe that anti-oppression work is vital to community organizing and building a movement to eliminate the exploitation of people and the planet and will have an anti-oppresion policy throughout the event. The convergence will be a space for celebration, for kids and families, a place to socialize with friends old and new. As the organics, bicycle and land reclamation movements in Latin America have proven, there are solutions and so much to gain economically, ecologically, emotionally and physically. We intend to show that less energy intensive, less "stuff-centered" living is not just more environmentally friendly, but that less can be so much more FUN!

Signs and Predictions for Climate Chaos Genocide

V-Annon

This statement is meant as a public service announcement for all people in the world other than Americans and those who emulate them. Americans do not care about anything except themselves and their fat bellies, so they can feel free to ignore these warnings and their doom.

It the responsibility of all non-fascists to add to this list or to prepare people to survive the onslaught.

Signs that the USA is About to Invade/Kill the World:

1. Drought will increase in the Southwest and Southeast USA until the value of housing there falls by 80 or 90 percent by 2012.

2. The price of water in these regions will go up by more than 400 percent making most farming impossible by 2012.

3. Many other areas of the USA will see water prices raise by 200 percent by 2010.

4. The price of food in the USA and around the world will increase at least 200 percent by 2015 and 400 percent by 2020.

5. The price of oil will level off at around 200 dollars a barrel by 2012. This will mean a price per gallon of gasoline in the USA (and in most of the world) of around 10 dollars a gallon.

6. The value of real estate in most coastal areas will fall by 50 to 90 percent (by 2012) depending on the local increases in storm activity and sea level rises.

7. These crises will cause a permanent global recession, increased terrorism, warfare and refugee explosions.

8. Great fires from drought and forest mismanagement will ravage much of the USA, Mexico, parts of the Andes, and the Amazon. This will accelerate global warming from the CO2 releases and the loss of gas absorbing trees.

9. The great fires will also cause greater erosions, mudslides and further loss of moisture and water retention in many watersheds.

10. Hurricanes striking regions that they rarely visit will cause massive ecological destruction in Central and South America.

11. As the price of food goes up everywhere, nations will become more protective of their trade and insist that basic foods and biofuels be kept in their own countries and regions. This will further drive up prices and infuriate the USA.

12. Violence against USA people and USA corporations will increase as most of the world's people come to understand that the USA is the most guilty culprit, since it has always been so wasteful, imperialistic and so unwilling to stop the problems or to give real foreign aid. This violence will spill over toward Europeans too and global tourism will come to an end by 2015.

13. The elite (the rich) in the USA and around the world already know all of this and they do not care, since they have a plan to deal with the crises: war and massive genocide to eliminate refugees and to secure energy and water supplies.

14. Invasive species and diseases will spread rapidly and whole regions will be placed under quarantine as ecosystem collapses become commonplace.

15. Icebergs will cause havoc in shipping lanes as Antarctica begins to disintegrate.

16. A Socialism of the Imperialist Core will have to be instituted to keep the USA and Europe functioning as they prepare for global war.

17. Media and education will no longer be of any use - if they ever were.

18. Few people or leaders will pay attention to these warnings in time to protect their people.

19. Global warming gases contributed directly by humans will continue to rise until at least 2020, after that human induced natural sources (methane from Siberia and the Arctic; reduced ocean absorption; forest fires; and plankton die off (and reduced reflectivity from less snow pack) will cause heat trapping gases to rise dramatically - no matter what the humans do.

20. The USA and Euros will kill most of the people in Africa by 2020.

LATIN AMERICAN SPECIFIC WARNINGS:

1. The USA expects to kill most of the people in Mexico and Venezuela by 2025.

2. Suicide, murder, massacres, infanticide, abortion and insanity will increase to epidemic levels.

3. Only immediate programs of Democratic Military Planning can offer some hope.
