Oaxacan Art and Solidarity

Oregon Oaxaca Solidarity will hold two different events this weekend. One is the closing of a month long art show. The other is a protest of a Oaxacan government official speaking in Woodburn, OR.
On Friday, a member of a street art collective from Oaxaca City, Mexico will speak about graffiti art in Oaxaca. This will be the closing night for a month long viewing of stencils from the Arte Insurgencia collection. The event will be this Friday, May 25 beginning at 7 pm at the Red and Black Cafe (2138 SE Division St). Posters from Arte Insurgencia, t-shirts, and patches will be for sale.

On Saturday, stand in solidarity with the people of Oaxaca. URO must go and the repression must STOP! This Saturday, Hector Sanchez, the new official responsible for reforming the government of Oaxaca, will be speaking from 4 to 6 PM at Chemeketa Community College in Woodburn, OR. Oregon Oaxaca Solidarity is organizing a group of people to attend Sanchez speech and question him about the repression of Oaxacans by Ulises Ruiz Ortiz's government. Carpool down with us to Woodburn and let the Mexican government know that our eyes are on Oaxaca and that we will not forget the violence and death caused by the federal and state governments. We will be leaving at 3 PM on Saturday from Liberty Hall (311 N Ivy). Either come with your own car or get a ride down with us. Expect to be back after 7pm.
