Let Them Know We Know They Are Here

National Animal Interest Alliance, NAIA, is sponsoring a three day conference this weekend at the Red Lion in Vancouver.
So very sorry for the late information but I too just got a heads up on this.
The National Animal Interest Alliance, NAIA, is holding a three day conference starting tomorrow, April 20, and continuing through Sunday, April 22, at the Red Lion Hotel, 100 Columbia, in Vancouver, Washington.
The NAIA, headquartered in Portland, is an anti animal rights organization whose membership consists of and supports hunters, breeders, fur farmers, pet stores, vivisectors, rodeos, puppy mills, zoos and other venues for animal exploitation and abuse. Patti Strand, NAIA founder and president, resides in SE Portland with her husband Rod.
Because I received no advanced notice of this conference I am unable to provide a list of guest speakers. Several years ago when they held a similar conference in Portland they had speakers from the FBI and USDA.
I find it troublesome that this group can sponsor a three day conference and the animal rights community is not even aware of it. Is it intentional on their part this is being held during World Week for Animals in Labs when most people will be focused on OHSU/Primate Center?
I am hoping at least one individual can find the time to stop by the hotel during this conference and pick up any and all information available and post their findings on this site. Any information gathered is better than none.

Ah yes, the lovely and charming Patti and Rod Strand. The co-authors of the 1993 book "The Hijacking of the Humane Movement, Animal Extremism."
".... These tactics include firebombing, burglary & attempted murder. They include the covert infiltration & takeover of organizations with differing views - redirecting their agendas & treasuries, corporate raider style, in the process. A real insight into the workings of the minds of true fanatics. These people are shown to be the latest hate group, pure & simple, & the animal issue is just a vehicle to disguise its character."
Yes, the Strands who breed, sell and exploit Dalmatians for profit. Who have extremely close ties to the AKC and who have in the past been on the Citizen Advisory Board for Multnomah County Animal Control.
The Stands who reside at 11402 SE Flavel Street in Portland Oregon and who can be reached any hour of the day or night at (503)761 8962.
Yes, Mr. and Mrs Strand, we will keep you in our thoughts.

Thanks Food Fight!Grocery.
A much tamer seminar than those in previous years held at various locations throughout the country. Nevertheless, this group needs to be monitored, unlike what their name implies, NAIA is NOT a friend to domestic animals, wildlife or the environment.
AO: Thank you too for providing an address for Rodney and Patti Strand. The house was a little difficult to find but was well worth the effort. Looks to be at least 3,000 square feet, built probably in the early 90's and sits on a large woodsy lot? Hey Strand, who drives the red car sitting in your driveway? Have to wonder if their upper middle class neighbors are aware of what they do. Maybe it is time to enlighten them.

Check out the NAIA website 20.Apr.2007 20:17

Its interesting to go to the NAIA's website and view amongst other topics their Board's occupational interests. Does the name Mark Schumacher ring a bell? As someone already stated they are no friend to the animals they claim to protect.
