Video File: Surge Protectors Good Friday Vigil at Military Recruiters Office

Today, Good Friday, April 5, 2007, for the tenth time since the New Year, the Surge Protector Brigade held a vigil at the military recruiters office on NE Broadway in Portland Oregon.
This time six of their number were arrested.

Earlier in the day artificial blood was spilled on the sidewalk and bloody hand prints pressed up against the front windows and building.

This is a 1 1/2 minute video of the spilling of blood, with a brief interview with Bonnie Tinker of the Brigade.

Vigil for Peace

A 13 1/2 minute video of an earlier action, March 30, 2007, has been posted to Google and can be viewed at:

your elders

Watching these videos and seeing exactly what the SPOGs are doing and the hits they are taking for young ones really chokes me up. Seeing them actually prevent someone from going in was awesome. They didn't just say, "No, you aren't going in!" they also briefly (there was a lot of commotion going on) gave the guy alternatives.

From that guy's perspective, I imagine he was quite confused by all of the commotion going on outside. It was very noisy and I think that because of it, the message was distorted. If one or two people were designated as casualty/war criminal prevention agents, and the rest were backup support (ie, chanting, blocking, etc), the facts could more easily be transmitted from the SPOGs to the potential corpse/war criminal.

Either way I appreciate your work, grannies and grampas, please keep it up!!!

Here is a short YouTube Video of the "peacemakers" taken prior to Jim's video
It was quite and peaceful when I was there in the morning on Black Friday

To me a I could sense
The love and sorrow and compassion for life and Lives, coming from these grandparents as they set up their surge brigade for peace on the sidewalk in front of the recruiters office

I Love Them.

I wanted to stay - but had to go.

Here is what I seen when I was there:
