SENATOR GORDON SMITH ARRESTS PEOPLE WHO ASK THAT HE WALK HIS TALK AND VOTE TO DEFUND THE I

Tom Hastings and Valerie Kelly were denied access to talk to Senator Smith about his vote on the $100 billion supplemental spending bill. When they refused to leave they were arrested.
Professor Hastings wrote in his letter to Sen. Smith, "We all share one common wish: that Senator Smith will simply tell us that he is going to do the right thing and vote against spending more money on the war and occupation of Iraq. We Oregonians are opposed to the war in Iraq. We want the troops home now and we want fiscal relief from this war spending".

Valerie Kelly wrote, " I urge you to vote No on the supplemental funding request for the war in Iraq—the very real power that is now in your hands. How can one recognize that the war is a mistake and yet continue to fund that mistake? Please be true to your own convictions, and have the courage of those convictions".

Please help us in our campaign. We need people who are willing to practice nonviolent civil resistance. We need your help to stop this immoral war in Iraq from continuing. Check out our web site at www.defundthewar.com and contact us with any questions.
