Watada speech tonight 04.Feb.2007 01:01

Anthony Vicari

2-3-07
Tonight,
I just attended the last public speech by Lt. Ehren Watada before his court-martial on Monday...
He is so "on message" when it comes to answering questions from the media and the public. No question was met with "Uhhhh, I think so...." It is so refreshing to hear an intelligent person engaged in the events of our times give frank, cogent anwers. Too many times I find myself out at an anti-war demonstration and get ambushed by these pro-war, flag-wavers who attack everything we stand for...I get flustered and can't manage to shoot back some pithy, witty response...Not so with Lt. Watada...he is very calm, very cool and collected...
For those of you who have not been to the gates of Ft. Lewis, WA...when you go to the all day vigil on Monday, 2-5-07, there are a bunch of right-wing, flag-wavers there who do a little street theater of their own to mock us...they are also very rude and quick to call the cops if they feel they can get away with it...they call themselves the "bridge brigade"...what's funny is there will be hundreds of us there, on base and off base and just about fifty of them...

I finally got a smile-in-today! .... after reading about the 50 lonely hearts 'bridge brigade' club
