Forget Impeachment- Conyers has “A New American Agenda”

I think we should give our Congress a 'Christmas in Iraq' by visiting them this Christmas season and giving them a Christmas like the Iraqis and our troops are experiencing. Show up at their local offices with pictures of the carnage they helped create. Visit their homes with a crowd, signs and read the stories of the reality in Iraq over a loudspeaker. Why should they enjoy a peaceful holiday while they are still ruining the lives of so many?

John Conyers is starting a town hall meeting tour where he is attempting to silence the public on Impeachment. He started the meeting by asking all those holding Impeachment signs to put them down.

The following is a report from a DUer

On impeachment: It is not practical right now. It will never succeed, as they don't have the votes. They would just tie up the legislative process for 4-6 months if they got bogged down in impeachment and they wouldn't get anything done. Then, of course, people would say they didn't get anything done and throw them out.

Instead Conyers will pursue what he calls, get this "A New American Agenda"
where they will pursue anything but Impeachment...

*international law issues and how our country does not follow may of them
*reintroduce legislation to establish the Department of Peace
*We need to work on a single-payer, universal health care bill
*Reform the new bankruptcy law
*We need to do something about Darfur.
*We need to reform the criminal justice system.
*We need to create a whole new paradigm ? we need to change what the U.S. means to the world.
*Go back to the civil rights movement: jobs, justice, peace.

I doubt I need to state the obvious, but does anyone thing anything will be accomplished with Bush in office? This is more stalling.

Conyers is holding his "A New American Agenda" meetings around the country, I suggest that everyone attend them but when he asks you to put your Impeachment signs down, say NO!

IMPEACHMENT IS OUR POSITIVE AGENDA.

How can anyone who is sworn to uphold our constitution think they should just overlook blatant violations of the law and just move on to other things?

We cannot allow John Conyers and Nancy Pelosi to lead our country into stupidity.

As some celebrate the birth of Christ, wouldn't it be nice to act in his behalf? Would Jesus be sitting at home enjoying his wealth and privilege meanwhile being responsible for the killing of so many? Take the time to stand outside your congresspersons home reminding them just who they are celebrating. Shout loudly "Thou shall not kill" Thou shall not steal!! Demand Impeachment and cutting the funding off to Halliburton and the other looters.
Let them know that we are not going away. This outrage will only grow until they answer to the will of the people.

Conyers is a Free Mason. He's beholded to one agenda: helping to implement the "New World Order".

We all need to STOP looking to our legislators to effect real change...it won't ever happen. We need to begin re-engaging in the tactics of Resistance and Direct Action. Ya know, the likes of which we were all a part right before 9/11. Think we can feel that surge of momentum again? I do, once we all actively embrace the 9/11 truth movement.

550 nonentities who can't prove they're elected vs. six billion 16.Dec.2006 10:18

Screw the Democrats and Republicans. They screw all of us, and billions more worldwide, though the House and Senate together are only around 550 people.

Who are 550 people to tell a country of 300 million what it wants when it wants impeachment now, and withdrawal from Iraq?

Go away Conyers and Kucinich, and all you enablers of the Republican led fascism of America.

Feeling betrayed yet? 16.Dec.2006 11:55

So you Democrats and those Republicans who voted against your party .. are you now starting to see the real problem? Its not a single party .. its the system... a system of the elite versus the poor .. the voiced (money or the corporate paid) versus the silenced and the ignorant. This is Soda Pop Democracy .. two choices Pepsi or Coke and you and I need water. The problem is with those who still believe this system is someow democratic and somehow will fix itself if the "other party" gets in. Its not that simple. We need a revolution that is not just a revolution in politics, but in the mind from how we see community to how we relate to the environment. Yet we waste valuable time with these parties as ice caps melt, super storms brew, dead zones (minium oxigen zones) expand off our coastal waters, natural resources reach peak extraction, poverty increases, debt continues, war wages, structural violence breeds more generations, human rights diminish, the Commons are sold and so on and so on. There were no Democrats with a big yellow and red "S" on a blue shirt hidden under their clothes. They protect their own (other "politicial" class) and would feed on the "other" when they need. Its way passed for a revolution and yet we will do nothing but watch our TVs as other people suffer from this until its our turn to have our five seconds on air time on the national news of being yet another victim of this real terrorism (class warfare).

hmmm 16.Dec.2006 12:04

It is a false dichotomy. Conyers legislative points are good things to do, and Bush needs to be impeached. Both can be pursued. The Democratic Party is creating a false dichotomy, and either/or when it can be both. It is an act of cowardice, not vision, and when acting out of cowardice, his 'new' agenda will not succeed either.

Washington politics are completely corrupted. It is only a movement of the people which can redeem us. Everyone who is putting hopes into the political process without it being driven by the will of a peoples movement, are following an indulgent fantasy.

agreed 16.Dec.2006 16:11

so what do we do?

I fully agree with what y'all are saying. So what do we do? I hear UFPJ has another Saturday afternoon march planned. Think that'll do it? obviously not.

http://benfrank.net/impeach/march2impeach.jpg

What I'd like to know is, why can beirut have an OPEN-ENDED protest, with music so loud it's blasting thru the Presidential Palace walls... why the fuck can't we do that?

Why can't we organize that- a stay as long as it takes protest in DC and several other major cities... it's like everyone is brainwashed into submission. Sure the masses are complacent, but why are WE, the awake ones, allowing UFPJ, ANSWER and World Can't Wait lead the stupid marches again and again- why can't we put up a soundstage and do the same as the hundreds of thousands in Beirut?

Put loudspeakers outside the local offices of Blumenauer, DeFazio, Hooley 16.Dec.2006 17:48

Impeacher

Short of putting a loudspeaker outside Conyers' home and shouting "Betrayer," how about doing it outside the Oregon offices of Blumenauer, DeFazio, Hooley whilst they're here celebrating the holidays. Shout something such as "If you swear to preserve, defend, protect the Constitution, you must impeach Bush and Cheney" or "You Took a Vow. Keep it Now! Impeach Bush & Cheney."

. 16.Dec.2006 21:48

.

Why can't we organize that? Because we have not been bombed, beaten, disappeared and murdered enough yet. In the meanwhile, organize, build alliances, develop sustainable practices and be ready.

Now I get it! 16.Dec.2006 22:36
