Perspective: US has occupied Iraq longer than it was at war in WW2

I caught this claim on the net and decided to calculate it for myself to determine if it was true. And yes the US has passed the date at which the US military has occupied Iraq as long as it was at war in WW2. If only people had known ahead of time that would have been a great talking point for buy nothing day actions.
December 8, 1941 - Declaration of War against Japan
August 14, 1945 - Victory over Japan

1345 Days
- or -
3 Years, 8 Months, and 6 Days

March 20, 2003 - Escalated bombing of Iraq marks "official" start of the invasion and occupation
November 24, 2006 - "Black Friday" 2006

1345 Days
- or -
3 Years, 8 Months, and 4 Days

As of today, 28 November 2006: 1349 days of occupation ("officially" in this "war")

and now 28.Nov.2006 09:25

finally the truth

mainstream media is now dropping the charade and NBC has announced it will now term the "conflict" in Iraq in plain, simple and accurate terminology...CIVIL WAR

Bush can shout from the highest mountain for eternity that civil war is not occurring but that doesn't make it true. One of his weakest character traits is being able to view reality, change his opinion and publicly declare it

Pravda or Consequences

GW lives in another world - Planet Denial.

remember what they said 28.Nov.2006 14:58

at the beginning, and often ever after

This is the ENDLESS WAR, scripted from Orwell.

Accurate? 30.Nov.2006 11:31

Is it even fully accurate of NBC etc to call what is going on in Iraq "civil war"? I'd call it a civil war plus a US invasion of ther nation and economy. Have the mainstreamers been admitting this?

Still, I'm glad they took a step towards truthfulness.
