News from Josh Harper's Support Team

Update- we've heard from Josh! Josh is currently working through his 2nd week of a 3-year federal prison sentence for "free" speech.
On November 16, 2006 Josh Harper turned himself in to serve his 3 year prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan, OR. If you're unfamiliar with Josh and the SHAC7, please visit www.SHAC7.com for history of the campaign, trial, and outcome involved.

After 10 days of silence we finally heard from Josh today! He's doing alright considering the circumstances, which are unfortunately not good (even compared to what was expected).

This makes your support all the more important!!!

Please send Josh a letter at:
Joshua Harper
FCI Sheridan
Federal Correctional Institution
P.O. Box 5000
Sheridan, OR 97378

And consider also writing to his co-defendants or donating to their commissary fund (addresses and info at shac7.com)

For the full write-up on what we heard from Josh today please visit Josh's support website at www.JoshHarper.org.

Thanks and keep fighting!

Yes, Josh IS getting your letters. We talked to him today for a few minutes, and he said how very much the letters mean to him. As of yet, he hasn't been able to get paper or envelopes or anything else to write letters back yet, but he will. Please keep up the support.

Can we send him paper and envelopes? Or is that too subversive.

Nope. 28.Nov.2006 19:02

No, you can only send letters and photos (but not polaroids). He has to buy his own writing supplies from the commissary (donate here:  http://shac7.com/donate.htm). Hopefully, he'll be able to do so soon.

Another way to donate is to come see "Your Mommy Kills Animals" on Dec 6th. Check the IndyMedia calendar listing for more info. Thanks.

I saw the film and have written to Josh -- on the same day I saw a little card with a story about the Joshua Tree, so I sent him a copy of that story with a drawing of it: "The Joshua Tree: A Tree That Can Lie About Its Age. As one of the oldest plants in the desert, the Joshua Tree can live up to 800 years. But unlike most trees, it has no growth rings to reveal its age. And given that the tree's growth varies with climate and soil, height isn't even a tell-tale sign. Some Joshua Trees that are only 5 feet tall are actually 150 years old. That's a long time to go without a growth spurt." I wished him a long life and a short sentence. I aspire to emulate Josh and the Joshua Tree. Love to all who act on Behalf of Animals and Trees. VC
