Murder of the land

We've all heard people say that the land is being murdered. Usually, I'll think of trees and oceans when this is brought up. Below is a photo I find shocking. A true symbol for what is happening everyday.

A Bucket-Wheel Excavator on Earth
Credit: ThyssenKrupp Technologies, SwapMeetDave

Explanation: Please wait while one of the largest mobile machines in the world crosses the road. The machine pictured above is a bucket-wheel excavator used in modern surface mining. Machines like this have given humanity the ability to mine minerals and change the face of planet Earth in new and dramatic ways. Some open pit mines, for example, are visible from orbit. The largest excavators are over 200 meters long and 100 meters high, now dwarfing the huge NASA Crawler that transports space shuttles to the launch pads. Bucket-wheel excavators can dig a hole the length of a football field to over 25 meters deep in a single day. They may take a while to cross a road, though, with a top speed under one kilometer per hour.

The rugged, mineral-rich Andes support some of the world's biggest mines (gold, silver, copper, and more). This image looks down the bull's-eye of Peru's Toquepala copper mine, a steep sided and stepped open-pit mine. Mid-afternoon sunlight on the arid slopes of the central Andes mountains provides an accent to the mine contours. At the surface the open pit is 6.5 km across and it descends more than 3000 m into the earth.

Puppy indeed!

not to be dismissive, but just to awake you to the real size of the problem.

Another way would be to spec how much ground water(in round thousands of litres) is spoiled by the cyanide leachates used for every shovel full this "puppy" eats.

They just previewed a flat earther film here in seattle "mine your own bussiness" the 'true' story about how activists are impoverishing the natives by opposing these wealth creating enterprises.
