***************

Latifa Lyles was elected Membership Vice President of the National
Organization for Women in July 2005 at age of 29, making her the group's
youngest-ever national officer. Lyles serves as a national spokesperson for
the group on issues ranging from reproductive rights to immigration reform.
Recent media interviews and appearances have included topics such as justice
for Hurricane Katrina Survivors, violence against women, and the recent
Supreme Court appointments and the future of a woman's right to choose.

An ardent advocate for economic justice and the critical importance of
mobilizing young women, Lyles and has held a deep commitment to social
justice and equality since high-school when she first became involved in
community outreach in her native New York City. In addition to political and
grassroots organizing work, she has nearly ten years of non-profit
fundraising and membership development experience for other women's and
civil rights organizations, and she currently and oversees these areas at
NOW.
