Woodburn Radio Barnraising

Link to audio documentary about the radio barnraising that took place in Woodburn in August.
Radio activists, carpenters, tech geeks, workers and families gathered to build a low-power station for PCUN, Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (Treeplanters and Farmworkers United of the Northwest). We built the station in a weekend with help from the Prometheus Radio Project, a Philadelphia-based organization of former radio pirates that builds low-power stations from the ground up. Prometheus was also responsible for lobbying for changes in FCC laws that made low-power licenses widely available 6 years ago. To hear the piece I produced for KBOO on the subject download the mp3 attached to this post or click here and look for the download link at the bottom of the page. (This is part of a regular, monthly show/podcast called "DIY, Portland.") Thank you for listening.
