Candlelight Peace Vigil on the Bridges of Portland
Saturday, September 23, 7:30-9:00 PM

Our message is simple and unequivocal:
We stand for peace.
Not one more day of killing,
not one more dollar for death-dealing,
not one more life wasted in violence for anyone's agenda.

We will line the railings of the Morrison and Hawthorne Bridges and the Waterfront and Esplanade that link them. We will stand like a forest, like a mountain in our unshakeable determination to create a culture and a world based on cooperation, compassion, justice, and sustainability -- the foundations of true peace. This is a simple candlelight vigil -- no leaders, no speeches, no mass marches or chants, just an opportunity to stand together in affirmation of our commitment to peace, peace with each other, with other communities and nations, and with this living planet.

Plan to be there, spread the word, bring friends and candles, and get your group or place of business to endorse or co-sponsor. Help us make a strong Declaration of Peace to politicians running for office in November that we are committed to creating a world at peace, a world that is just, cooperative, vibrant and sustainable.

To endorse or co-sponsor, post to  circle@livingearthgatherings.org. Next planning meeting is Sept. 12, 7:00 pm. If you can help, call for details.
