Troops Home Fast Unites with Faith Community September 10 - 11

Preliminary Lineup for Peace Fast & Teach-In
Shemanski Park, South Park Blocks (Salmon & SW Park) will be the site of a two-day Public Fast and Peace "Teach-In" - uniting clergy, lay leaders, peace groups, and individuals from all persuasions - to bring attention to the urgency for peacemaking and provide opportunities for personal commitment, education, and discussion - a reflective, supportive, joyous event on September 10 and 11 (10AM-6PM).

Fasters and their supporters will be the center of the event. They will talk with others about why they fast, how they do it, and what it means to them, including representatives of "Troops Home Fast" with Code Pink Portland. Surrounding them will be information tables and exhibits set up by various peace groups of both secular and religious orientation. They will engage in teaching, talking, and activities, signing declarations of peace, pledges of nonviolence, letters, and peace prayers or other expressions of our shared yearning for peace.

Near the fasters, a Peace Curtain will be installed allowing visitors to write and affix their own peace notes, reflections, prayers, origami doves, and other colorful and meaningful pieces. Donations to Benefit NE Emergency Food Bank.

An inspiring lineup of hourly presentations, remarks, prayers, dance, music, readings, poetry, and more will be hosted by or include the following:
