Troops Home Fast Community Gathering - Sept 10-11

Code Pink Portland will join with People of Faith for Peace and other peace and justice organizations for a public fast on September 10th and 11th. Our mission is to unite clergy, lay leaders, peace groups and individuals from all persuasions and to bring attention to the urgency for peacemaking and provide opportunities for personal commitment, education and discussion - a reflective, supportive, joyous event.
Troops Home Fast began July 4th
Troops Home Fast began July 4th
Location: Shemanski Park, SW Salmon and Park (South Park blocks). Time: 10 am to 6pm, both days. Please join us! You can participate in many ways: as a faster, a supporter or just come to hear inspiring words and music.

Fasters and their supporters will be the center of the event. We will talk with others about why we fast, how we do it, and what it means to us. There will be information tables and exhibits set up by various peace groups of both secular and religious orientation. We will engage in teaching, talking, and activities, signing declarations of peace, pledges of nonviolence, letters, and peace prayers. Near the fasters, a Peace Curtain will be installed allowing visitors to write and affix their own peace notes, reflections, prayers, origami cranes, and other colorful and meaningful pieces.

An inspiring lineup of brief top-of-the-hour remarks, prayers, dance, music, readings, and more will be hosted by or include the following (this list is not complete):
