Corvallis events: 61st Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Displays, traditional floating lantern ceremony, speakers, music, and the shadow project (silhouettes in chalk) scheduled in Corvallis.
Corvallis "Never Again" will commemorate the 61st anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the following events:

** Displays: At Footwise, 3rd & Madison, from July 25 - August 7, 2006; at the Corvallis/Benton County Library during the month of August

** Traditional Floating Lantern Ceremony at Starker Arts Park, Country Club Drive and 45th Street, Monday, August 7.
Lantern decorating, 7:30 pm, commemorative Program, 8:00 pm, floating the lanterns 9:00 pm. Families are welcome. The evening will include readings, poetry, music by local musicians, tabling, a moment of silence for all who died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and for all victims of all wars, floating lanterns on the pond.

** Shadow Project: Silhouettes in chalk. A reminder of those who were victims of the nuclear bombs, with hope of preventing nuclear shadows from ever being cast again. August 5 - 9, 200. Those wishing to participate, contact Ed Epley, 541-752-3152.
