America's Media Still Too COWED to Criticize Israel?

Now, several days into Israel's continued bombing and shelling of Gaza, American TV networks and major newspapers are still too COWED by the "Israeli Lobby" to CRITICIZE ISRAEL or honestly label the attacks as "STATE TERRORISM!" - In Contrast, ISRAELI Media and Writers ARE criticizing the attacks!
Apparently, only Israel's Haaretz newspaper, several Jewish writers, British newspapers and the Swiss have the guts to criticize Israel's STATE TERRORISM attack on Gaza as unjustified, illegal and in defiance of the Geneva Conventions!
Followup to my recent Email on this... Apparently, only Israel's Haaretz newspaper, several Jewish writers, British newspapers and the Swiss have the guts to criticize Israel's STATE TERRORISM attack on Gaza as unjustified, illegal and in defiance of the Geneva Conventions!

Here is a recent HAARETZ editorial chastising the Israeli government. Especially note the excerpt that reveals as phoney, Omert's excuse that he is attacking Gaza and HAMAS to free the "kidnapped" Israeli soldier...

The legitimate basis for the IDF's operation was stripped away the moment it began. It's no accident that nobody mentions the day before the attack on the Kerem Shalom fort, when the IDF kidnapped two civilians, a doctor and his brother, from their home in Gaza. The difference between us and them? We kidnapped civilians and they captured a soldier, we are a state and they are a terror organization. How ridiculously pathetic Amos Gilad sounds when he says that the capture of Shalit was "illegitimate and illegal," unlike when the IDF grabs civilians from their homes. How can a senior official in the defense ministry claim that "the head of the snake" is in Damascus, when the IDF uses the exact same methods?
The more the operation "rolls," the darker the flag becomes. The "summer rains" we are showering on Gaza are not only pointless, but are first and foremost blatantly illegitimate. It is not legitimate to cut off 750,000 people from electricity. It is not legitimate to call on 20,000 people to run from their homes and turn their towns into ghost towns. It is not legitimate to penetrate Syria's airspace. It is not legitimate to kidnap half a government and a quarter of a parliament.

There is no situation in the world like the one in occupied Palestine; and Gaza is in effect the world's largest open-air quasi-self-administered prison.
What the Israelis are really maneuvering for is the excuse to take down the now Hamas-led 'Palestinian Authority' they created and in the process to kill-off/imprison/demoralize this generation of Palestinian leadership as they have done to the past.
Even more the Israelis want to further inflame the region and provoke some kind of response so they can then ignite a larger regional conflagration in which they can try to take down the regimes in Iran and Syria, as well as Hezbollah (Lebanon) and Hamas (Palestine). They are determined, along with the American neocons/evangelicals, to pursue their Machiavellian schemes to control the region in tandem to varying degrees with the US/UK/EU. It is the long-ago proclaimed crusading 'New World Order'...just no longer with that particular term out front.

How is it that when the Israeli government behaves like a country that has lost all control, the United States makes do with a routine recommendation for the two sides "to exercise restraint"? Why is the European Union silent when the prime minister says he is conducting an insane policy? Shimon Schiffer wrote on Friday in the daily Yedioth Ahronoth that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in an internal discussion that he "wants the Palestinians to understand that the landlord has gone crazy."

If the government of Israel fails to understand on its own that chaos will lead to Somalization on the other side of the street, the international community will be forced to stop the rot. No wonder the neighboring states, Egypt and Jordan, are monitoring the crisis with increasing worry.
The ministers, and particularly those from the Labor Party, must demand from the prime minister and defense minister an immediate end to the attack on Hamas' political leaders, against whom there is no evidence to indicate that they are involved in planning or carrying out acts of terror.

4 July - Associated Press: Switzerland said Monday that Israel has been violating international law in its Gaza offensive by heavy destruction and endangering civilians in acts of collective punishment banned under the Geneva conventions on the conduct of warfare.

Palestinian moderates are Israel's real enemies, so it deliberately drives them from the scene
Excerpts only...
Israel's second reason for striking at Gaza is political. It is seeking to destroy the Hamas government by all possible means - including physical liquidation - because it knows that Hamas's terms for a settlement would be stiffer than it could possibly accept.
It abhors the recent Hamas-Fatah accord, which implicitly recognizes Israel, because it threatens to produce a Palestinian partner ready to negotiate the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Israel has no intention of ever returning to those borders. It is no accident that its assault followed immediately on the Palestinian accord.
Israel will do everything to avoid a negotiation. Hence, it deliberately inflicts inhumane hardships on the Palestinians in order to radicalize them and drive the moderates from the scene. Moderates, who are prepared to talk, are Israel's real enemies.

The "kidnapped" soldier served as a pretext for an operation which must have been prepared a long time ago.
The connection between the "kidnapped soldier" and the operation exists only in the realm of propaganda.
A clear aim, which the operation is designed to attain by simple means: breaking the Palestinian population by the liquidation of its leadership, destruction of its infrastructure and cutting off of food supplies, medicines, electricity, water and sanitary services - not to mention employment. The message to the Palestinians: if you want to put an end to your suffering, remove the government you have elected.
