Calm down...there is no new law...not yet, at least. The House passed a bill last December (the draconian Sensenbrenner bill). The Senate passed the "compromise" bill last week. There are a few more steps required before a bill becomes law (don't you remember your high school civics class?) Anyway, the two bills need to get mashed together in conference--lots of people think that this will be extremely difficult, since some right-wing fuckheads will oppose anything with any path to citizenship for any of the nation's 12 million undocumented immigrants. On the other side, some Senators won't support a bill that does not have some of that in it. Hopefully, nothing will pass, because there is a bunch of bad stuff in the Senate bill, and the House bill is all bad. In my opinion, it's better if nothing passes. And don't forget about the last thing that needs to happen--el jefe needs to sign it!
In terms of what's being done, there is a bunch of stuff going on. Forums and other educational events are being planned, and there is talk of more mobilizations on July 4. Stay tuned!
