I had suspected it might be too much to hope for that anyone would actually post saying that they're bringing their bike to help move.

I don't have any involvement with Laughing Horse other than publicizing the move, but I would guess that they would buy property if they could afford to.

I don't know why the move was planned for Mother's Day... could it have anything to do with the realities of their move-out arrangements? There apparently isn't an email address for Laughing Horse, but they have a phone #. You're probably not gonna get your questions answered by posting here.

Portland Collective Business Development fund (PCBDF) 13.May.2006 14:24

Needs something catchier ?

We actually already have a number of local resources...
we have,Portland Collective Housing(PCH) (pdxhousing.org),which owns 2 collectively managed homes, offering affordable shelter for 16 peoples, plus offering an affordable business space for the,Blackrose Collective Bookstore and Community Resource Center, an all volunteer, collectively run community center,in the heart of the gentrification of North Mississippi ave,at 4038 N.Mississippi Ave.
PCH is also a member of the,Portland Alliance Of Worker Collectives (PAWC):www.pawc.net. Which could be a community info and financial development funding resource for new collective business projects ? The only hard part is actually trying to get people to work together, and to think about the future...

It is not productive to be holding a discussion about buying a building at this time.. It would obviously be great if we could "just" buy property but the lease is singed, and beautiful fat positive lady has sung.. this would be better discussed perhaps after we are actually out of our current space and into a new one.
Right now we are concerned with moving. This has obviously been a long process and we would love any help that could be offered in the community.
And you get free goodies!

Oh, and about the mothers day thing.. it is unfortunate we had to plan for mothers day, but organic brain had it right when he said suggested "realities of their move-out arrangements"

Much thanks to all of you out there who support us, and to organic brain for posting..

REDUX

Tamara Goldsmith writes "REDUX Boutique and Gallery

Is proud to present June featured artist BRETT SUPERSTAR. 6-10pm this June 2nd is the opening reception for new featured monthly artists, also denoted as "First Fridays" among neighboring shops and galleries in the blossoming new arts community of LoBu.

Participants of First Fridays are including but not limited to, Moshi Moshi, Yes, Denwave, Renowned Gallery/Grass Hut, the New American Art Union and Ivy Studios just to name a few.

Superstar is an extremely prolific painter, and has shown his work all over Portland in his short time on the town. The stark simplicity of this most recent body of work was made special for REDUX. This show is an exploration of his roots in drawing and illustration. Here he lets the simplicity of line and shading come through in each piece, which are all rendered on old found file folders. In this body of work his pared down original drawings are what carry each piece, focusing on the essence of an object or the personality behind a portrait.

Brett is originally from Boston, MA and studied art at Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. His work consists usually of paintings or illustration on found or reclaimed wood or objects, inspired mostly by nature, modern man, and all of the strange and fabulous things people do. Aptly named, this Superstar really makes work you want.

Also on display this month: cuddle up with the latest original plush creations from the ladies of ANGRY TOOTH From Jen's crocheted dolls and her series of mo.lar/squidy/naughty/angry teeth and to Q's classic animal! And minimals. Must be seen to be believed.

We also carry over thirty local and semi-locally produced objects and wearables ranging from beautimous bling to recycled accessories, outsider art and reinvented oddities.

Puhleez! Are people's brains really so asleep? It's just so annoying to deal with incompetence on such elementary stuff as an address, esp. a brand new one. You have a street that runs all the way east/west from the town of Gresham through the city of Portland and almost to the city of Beaverton - called "Burnside". You have in front of every single street all over the region stuff called E, W, N, S, SW, NW, NE, SE, to help people find a precise location and to know which side of the river, and which side of Burnside, they want, PLUS actual numbers on the building or house. So, what is the REAL address of the new Laughing Horse Bookstore? What are the numbers over the door? And what side of the river is it? 9999 NE 10th? 9999 NW 10th - ? Is it near Powell's book store uptown (west side), or is it nearer Central Cath. Hi Sch on the east side?
