Video From Anti-Immigrant Gathering At Pioneer Courthouse Square

At 2 PM on Sunday, 7 May 2006, a group of anti-immigrant activists picketed at Pioneer Courthouse square in Portland, OR. At about the same time another group showed up in solidarity with immigrants.

There were a few tense moments, and as is shown in the video, one immigrants' rights supporter was shoved by an anti-immigrant activist, but overall the atmosphere was fairly calm. About 10 to 15 people (including a few children) held signs and argued that illegal immigrants should be sent home. About 20 or 30 people joined in solidarity with immigrants in a counter protest. About 4 police officers tried to keep the crowds separated, but remained fairly hands off. After about an hour and a half, the anti-immigrant faction left to go home.

The following video is about 11.5 minutes long and depicts various moments throughout the event.
