Report: Tuesday Vigil At The Recruiting Center

I went to the recruiting center for the Tuesday vigil. I was surprised at the number of people waving and honking. Not just the number but the level of interest and energy expressed was decidedly higher than the previous weeks I went.
Maybe it is because it is spring, or maybe it is because of the talk of impending war with Iran, or maybe it is the growing awareness that things are going terribly wrong here in this country and people are slowly realizing that it isn't gonna fix itself. Sooner or later people are going to get aroused and finally angry about the lies this government is telling all so it can make a few people even richer at the expense and lives of many others.

There were 22 people at the recruiting center this time. The most of any of the times I have been there so far. It is good to see a sizable number of people come out. I do hope that more and more people will do so. The public response is overwhelmingly positive and it is great that the recruiters have to see and hear this.

While most held signs and posters, a few people on each side of the street handed out flyers to passersby.

The vigil is held every Tuesday at the Armed Forces Recruiting Center at 1317 N. Broadway from 5:30 - 6:30pm

the NSA and the DIA are labeling people who protest at military recruitment centers as terrorists and are therefore subject to being incarcerated indefinitely without charges being brought and without access to a lawyer or a trial. (Scary isn't it)

Also, that our military is using uranium weapons (they call it depleted uranium but it is not depleted of much) and that the vast majority of the troops that came back from Gulf War 1 now have some form of disability (horrible radiation sickness that attacks anywhere in the body) and are having deformed children at very high levels.

The US military does not warn our troops of these facts. The uranium contanimation is causing the same thing in the Iraqi people, and will for millions of years as the uranium has a half-life of 4.5 Billion years. The uranium is also making it's way over here on the air currents, but places in Iraq are now permanantly uninhabitable.

I just keep a business card with my name, service number and thumbprint handy to give them. Saves tax dollars, they don't have to waste time trying to ID me. No, it doesn't scare me.

People who stand outside recruiting centers are not being disappeared. We have not come to that place yet. We might, but not yet.

BOHICA, I dont know who you are but for some reason your message kind of pissed me off. I dont think it was the comment about not being scared, for it does not scare me either. I think it was the openess, you expressed, that you give to the enemy. It sounds so much like the pathetic gandhian non-sence that flows out of prevliged, white middle-class, self-righteous, assholes that I have met. I'm not saying that this is what you are for I do not know you. However even though I am not scared of the enemy I still do not want to be tortured or jailed. Nor do I want people working with me that would just give up info to state or who-ever. The 60's have left and now is time for a real revolution (not just sex, drugs, and talk of some weird hippy love.)
