Spring Book Sale in Gresham

Plan to come to Gresham this weekend for the annual used book sale put on by the nonprofit Friends of the Multnomah County Library to support county library programs.
The sale will be April 29 and 30 at 2430 SE Burnside Road at Powell Boulevard in the Gresham Village shopping center. This is the same place where the two-day sale was held last year. Hours will be 9 AM to 6 PM Saturday and 10 AM to 4 PM Sunday.

More than 15,000 donated adult and children's books, videos, DVDs, CDs, cassettes and audio books will be offered. Children's items start at 50 cents, and most adult books are $1.50 to $6.

Because of patrons' requests, materials in all categories seen at the bigger fall sale in Portland will be available. These include history and politics, philosophy, religion, education, popular fiction, classics and literature, mysteries, science fiction, science and mathematics, psychology and parenting, crafts and home repair and decorating.

Last year, the sale earned $20,000, an increase of $14,000 more than the year before when the sale was a one-day affair. Proceeds go to support public library programs and purchase of materials for all branches.

The shopping center offers free parking, and the TriMet Number 80 bus serves the site.
