Adrian Haley, Anthony Villagomez, and Jason Morgan met at 1:00 PM on Monday
with Pam Brokaw, Baird's District Director. They where representing a growing number of concerned citizens for good science. Haley, Villagomez, and Morgan Demanded Baird's office attend a public debate on the roll of Science in Public Policy.
The citizens voiced their concerns about H.R. 4200 and Baird's disregard for
the established scientific community. They demanded Baird withdraw his co-sponsorship of the bill or defend his position during a public debate for
his constituancy. They also demanded that Baird honor his previous committment during his speech delivered at The Center for Science in the Public Interest where he was asked about a study related to child abuse and congresses refusal to condem the study. He said, "we did not think it wise for Congress to get into a habit of condeming peer reviewed reseach findings for political purposes".
On Sunday April 16 Adrian Haley occupied a tree outside Rep. Baird's Vancouver office to protest his disregard for peer reviewed scientific research and his co-sponsorship of H.R. 4200. Mr. Haley came down at around 6:00 PM after negotiating a meeting with representatives of Rep. Baird's office.
