Northwest Indigenous Film Festival

The First Annual Northwest Indigenous Film Festival will be held in Portland on April 1st and 2nd (Saturday and Sunday) at the Guild Theatre and in Eugene on the same weekend at Lane Community College. The poster shown is for the Portland schedule. Below is the text of the Eugene schedule. The festival is also running in Seattle and Spokane. Films:

1:00 - 1:40 PM "The Messenger"

Blackgum Production Animated Cherokee story in the Cherokee language with English subtitles.

2:00 - 2:30 PM "The Beginning: They Told Cherokee"

(a creation story)

2:30 - 3:00 PM "The Ball Game"

Animated film done by Sequoyah High Students (Boarding school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma) Speaking: Sarah Bearpaw, Cherokee language student.

3:00 - 4:00 PM "Salmon on the Backs of Buffaloes"

Film about the 2002 fish kill on the Klamath River and the dams that are owned by Scottish Power out of Scotland. Film has footage of the protest in Scotland. Speaking will be Jeff Mitchell, activist.
