Military seige maneuvers in downtown Toledo

First they came in January, 2005. Just for the weekend, in a part
of downtown Toledo that sees little action, so as not to disturb
civilians. Just an urban military training exercise, though I was
arrested, handcuffed,
taken to jail and charged for standing on a sidewalk. They were back
again in
February, 2006.
First they came in January, 2005. Just for the weekend, in a part
of downtown Toledo that sees little action, so as not to disturb
civilians. Just an urban military training exercise, though I was
arrested, handcuffed,
taken to jail and charged for standing on a sidewalk. They were back
again in
February, 2006. This time with no forewarning by the media, simply an
anonymous notice in the Toledo Blade: <a
HREF=" http://www.democrats.com/node/7668">Marine Corps Reservists Plan
Downtown Exercises</a>. They were back again
today, March 9, a busy weekday morning in downtown Toledo, with their
M16s,
headquartered next to the city bus terminal and across the street from
a major
bank, prepared to stay through the weekend. This time they have
barricades with
large signs blocking the sidewalks. So much for urban training in an
area that
will be sparsely populated. Who did they come for this time?

Fox News editor laughingly told me she only learned of the maneuvers
when she came to work today. When I asked the first marine I
encountered if
his M16 was real, he proudly told me yes. When the one crouching on
the
ground hiding behind a barrier startled me with his gun pointed at me
less than 2
feet away, he said "I'm sorry." I soon heard a commanding officer tell
the
troops not to point the guns at civilians. When I walked in front of a
group of
marines positioned across the street from children at recess, one still
had
his gun pointed up rather than at the ground as the commanding officer
had
instructed. The mother in me told him "Put that gun down," which he
quickly did. (Note to commanding officers: troops probably should not
obey civilian
orders.) The children in the Head Start school bus gazed out of the
windows at the camouflaged men with frightening guns. (The
psychologist in me says
all guns are frightening to children.) What were the children
thinking?

Thanks, Mr. Finkbeiner, mayor of Toledo, you who would ship the deaf
to live near the airport so Toledo could keep their air freight
carriers. As
written by <a HREF=" http://www.democrats.com/node/7668">Bob Fertick</a>
when
the marines came only a month ago, "The question is, will anyone
notice? If no one notices fascism in Toledo, will anyone notice fascism
in Chicago, Los
Angeles, and New York?" Will you only notice when they come for you?
From An Earlier Appeal to Throw Off the Tyrannies of a King 12.Mar.2006 18:38

"He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power..."

"For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:..."

Written for an earlier time. We now have tyrannies of corporate military oligarchs, venal, skulking elected and appointed officials and fundamentalist foot soldiers, who have seized governance and common resources, who take counsel from Zionist visionaries, conjoined and embarked on their quests for maximum profits, global domination and hybrids of Messianic Rapture.

We need a new Declaration and another Revolution and a living Constitution.

The Declaration of Independence of 1776 is dead. Long live the new Declaration of Independence--and all those to follow at regular, healthy intervals!
