2006 ANNUAL CONVENTION
VETERANS FOR PEACE
August 10-13, 2006

Conference Theme: Sow Justice, Reap Peace - Strategies for Moving
Beyond War

Proposals are to be no more than three pages. Criteria for acceptance
are

1. Carry out the theme of the conference.
2. Agree to timely prepare a written summary of presentation, no more
than one page to be included in conference program.
3. Plan a one-hour presentation with time for Q&A.
4. Comply with VFP conference policies and procedures.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:

o Chapter Organization: recruitment, media work, organizational
fundamentals, budgeting, managing curmudgeons

o Communication: non-violent communication, building consensus
through communication, compassionate listening, political
communication, advocacy, media literacy

o Environment: sustainability of the environment through peace, through
responsibility to and for the environment

o Human Effects of War: PTSD, U238 / depleted uranium, spiritual
aspects of war, gender issues

o Veteran support: women's issues, Gold Star families, Vets4Vets,
homeless veterans, IVAW

o Chapter innovations: star programs from chapters across the country

o Issues of war: militarism, impeachment, counter recruiting, torture,
treating for peace, war as an instrument of foreign policy, nuclear
weapons, weapons in space.

By March 30, 2005, please submit the following information for review -
