Notorious "Voyeur" is as bad a criminal as Bundy,Mansor or Bush?

Seattle and Vancouver B.C.'s media have pulled out all the stops to villify and publically BBQ school athletics coach Chi Yung Luu for "peeping" at naked bodies in the showerroom.Oh yes he used a videom cam to record some of it for posterity or whatever.Still this peeping at naked showerers has suddenly elevated Chi Yung Luu (most notably in the suddenly "Victorian" State of Washington) right up there with the notorious likes of Bundy,Manson and Bush.

Now wether it is even a crime to look at naked bodies will be the "puritanical" prosecution's biggest hurdle.Any half compotent defense counsel can show and prove that lots of people,of all stipes, look at naked bodies in places anywhere from public sculptures to playboy/playgirl magazines,to numberless "nude-bodies" internet sites to nude bathing beaches like the world famous Wreck Beach in Vancouver.

The other part of Chi Yung Luu's defense platform has to be questioning just how and to what damaging extent did Luu's "peeping" and video-caming naked teens in a public, group shower-room have on those boys and society as a whole? Did the fact that a number of boys who were apparently "willingly" naked in a shower together, mitigate the Seattle Attorney General's contention that nudity or witnessing nudity or being intrigued by nudity is a grevious, heinous crime?

Maybe one of the side effects of this "Witch Hunt" against Chi Yung Luu will be that a bunch of entrepreneurs will launch internet websites featuring "Live Webcam" videos of nude people taking long, sensual showers? Of course then the FBI;CIA:NSA and the Dept.of Homeland Security will have to be brought in to crush the infidels and preserve America's blemish free morals and values?

Yes, as matter of fact, this is a horrible act. 03.Jan.2006 20:42

Look, these are children he was videotaping, without their consent.

Moreover, no one should be used in this way without their consent.

Finally, do you not see the long term danger in this as well? Who is to say that these videotapes will not come out 20 years from now? Perhaps they will be on the Internet. Is that fair to these children?

how old were these "children," exactly? 03.Jan.2006 22:03

locker rooms and public showers in grade school?

High-school students are not "children" by any rational definition, and their pseudo-juvenile legal status in our present society is one of the last vestiges of the chattel system that once applied to blacks and women their entire lives. Once upon a time, middle-class parents attempted to impose this same absurd role on their college-age offspring, but the '60s rebellion put an end to it.

The article on Stephanie's law isn't entirely clear (granted, I only skimmed it) because it says these criminals *can be* sentenced to up to a year or two in jail. Sounds to me like this is the maximum penalty, and those are not usually given. A fine of $500 would certainly be a small penalty.

Listen, I don't think he's as bad a Bundy or Bush, but this is a violation of minors--parents trust a coach to care for their kids, not get their jollies of them. I agree that such behavior should be treated as a lesser kind of sexual assault.

He wasn't a coach 06.Jun.2007 10:29

I just wanted to correct an error in the article and a misunderstanding. He was a drama teacher with no connection to team sports, not a trusted coach that betrayed the parent's trust. He had no reason to even be in there.
