Iamgine what would happen if thousands of people started making calls to numbers in the Middle East. The NSA spooks would be overwhelmed with "leads" they would have to follow up on. They'd have to ignore the Quakers and start tracking millions of other domestic calls. Eventually they would have to give up and quit spying on everyday people. Its not running interference for terrorists; we're just trying to say "put your hands up and back away from the wiretap, slowly..."
