"Democrats force Senate into unusual closed session"...

www.cnn.com

"I demand on behalf of the America people that we understand why these investigations aren't being conducted,' Democratic leader Harry Reid said."
Who does Harry want to lead the investigation?

Why did Harry wait until now to talk about it? What were Democrats doing while 2000 Americans were killed, thousands more injured, and even thousands more Iraqis killed and injured?

What did the Democrats know and when did they know it?

BECAUSE tomorrow is the Nov. 2 uprising! That's why now! This is the Dems way of saying to the people, "Go for it!"

Why not just say so and show up at the demonstrations themselves? I can't explain the whole answer to that question -- but I do know that the Dems in the Senate do not live in a vacuum -- they know a lot about which way the winds are blowing. I think what the Dems in Congress really would like to see is a big popular movement -- anti-war, anti-Bush, even demanding election reform. They don't want to jump in and look like they are trying to co-opt the parade -- but they would like to see it happen.

So, my fellow Dems, do something!

You want to protest? -- GET OUT TOMORROW AND DO IT! You have nothing to lose but 2006!

As for the anti-Dem IMC-ers itching to repeat their mantra that the Dems are just half of the ONE GREAT corporate party, please correct that to say, "Significantly less than half of the corporate party." The other guys are running the White House, the media, the military (90% of military officers today are Republicans), the Congress, the Federal courts and most state governments. Not to mention that they also control the vote-counting corporate contractors.

Could be a good thing to promote division of the enemy into two camps?

Whatever your party or non-party, GET OUT TOMORROW AND PROTEST!

WASHINGTON - Democrats forced the Republican-controlled Senate into an unusual closed session Tuesday, questioning intelligence that President Bush used in the run-up to the war in Iraq and accusing Republicans of ignoring the issue.

"They have repeatedly chosen to protect the Republican administration rather than get to the bottom of what happened and why," Democratic leader Harry Reid said.

Taken by surprise, Republicans derided the move as a political stunt.

With Libby and Delay under indictment and Frist under investigation by the SEC, the Democrats have wisely capitalized on all of this Republican agita in calling the dramatic - but not so unusual - secret Senate session. It was meant to put pressure on the Senate Intelligence Committee to finish its investigation of pre-Iraq War intelligence. It should become quite a circus with Fitzgerald vowing to get to the truth of the Plame outing and the Republican-dominated Senate Intelligence Committee forced to produce something with substance regarding the flawed intelligence that was used to justify the invasion of Iraq.

this is a surprise. the dems seem to have a spine. they're actually taking a stand on something. i think the angry response of the republicans was because they weren't used to such uppity dems. they were most definitely blind sided by this.

well, soon enough it will all be back to the way it was before. one party control in washington. i'm sure that frist will remind reid that - "what the hell were you trying to pull? don't you remember? there's only one party in america. now, go back to hiding and whimpering under the table. go back to sleep. behave yourselves."

i also think that democrats are begining to realize that they are totally off base with their constituancy. most people in this country are against the war now and i think democrats want to save face for blindly supporting the war. they are the "opposition" party and want to soak up some of the anit-bush sentiments for themselves. they would also love to use this new leak hearing to blame their support for the war on the fact that they believed in someone's lies. everyone with a brain, and yes many dems have them, knew that these were lies from the start. i think it's just a stunt to save face and try to win back their base. maybe i'm being pessamistic though. i'd LOVE to actually believe that the party i am swindled into voting for every election are actually doing right by the people who put them in power.
