Internationalist Journal of Culture and Currents is being distributed free at local independent bookshops and coffee shops including the downtown Stumptown.
Magazine is cleverly designed, edited, written, and promoted quarterly published by the Internationalist Education Foundation (IEF). IEF and quarterly founded by conservative UPuget Sound grads with obviously the "right" connections. U Puget Sound has Methodist roots.
Mag designed to a hip cool "radical, "open forum," "young," semi-academic product. The reality is a recombinant clone of AdBusters, Brainstorm, Clamor, Ode, and the Weekly Standard. Especially adept at clothing Afghanistan, Iraq and critical global issues with a subtle conservative slant.
Advertisers include the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), CDS International (German corporate and government sponsored international exchange programs), Conservative Political Action Conference("America's Largest Annual Gathering of Conservatives"), Foreign Policy Carnegie Endowment for Peace, a private non-profit with corporate and ivy league trustees) Monterey Institute, and the Peace Corps. AlterNet, Naropa University, Rough Guides, and a smattering of a few academic institution ads (e.g. Indiana University and UC/San Diego) obviously included to provide an academic student image.
