Guadalupe Rivera Marin comes to Portland soon!
Author, public art and mural advocate (and daughter of Diego Rivera) Guadalupe Rivera Marin will be in Portland for several public events this weekend (Sunday, Monday).
She is head of The Diego Rivera Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting public art and artists.
She's just written a book about her father, titled "Diego Rivera the Red" (Arte Public Press, December 2004), which tells the story of his early life and work.
She will be presenting at several public events, including:
- September 18th Sunday 7pm at First Congregational Church
sliding scale admission
- September 19th Monday 7pm St. Andrews Catholic Church (in Spanish) free admission
Don't miss this rare chance to hear about Mexican artist & revolutionary Diego Rivera, his artwork and murals, and the direction of public art in our corporate-dominated culture.
With billboard companies vowing to fight the city (and community artists) for Portland's limited wall space, now is the time to learn more about the international tradition of community murals as an important voice to communicate the dreams and hopes of ordinary people!!
Don't miss these events!!
