Portland delegates returning from the World Festival of Youth and Students held in Caracas from August 7-15th, will share photos, stories and analyses from the event. Held periodically since 1948, this year's festival attracted 15,000 youth from over 100 countries, who debated strategies for building a more just and equitable world.
The Venezuelan social movement today represents the most inspired resistance to corporate globalization in the Americas.
Delegates Megan Hise, Robinette Jones and Lila Zucker will provide firsthand accounts of the exciting changes taking place in Venezuela under Hugo Chavez's presidency. They will offer insight into the reality of Venezuela's urban poor and the growing resistance to the model of corporate globalization and military intervention promoted by the Bush administration.
