Bush Appoints Bolton-Screw the Senate and the Constitution

W installs Bolton as U.N. Ambassador via sleight-of-hand 'recess'appointment.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE: Today W appointed John Bolton as our ambassador to the United Nations. He used the 'recess appointment' option, which bypasses and trumps any Senate vote on the issue. No one can even really comment since every D.C. politician left town today for vacation. What perfect timing. Sen. Edward Kennedy said it 'subverts the Constitution'. Bolton will now hold this position until at least 2007! All Hail the Great Dictator. Heil Bush! Enjoying your "Democracy"?

this thing here

bolton's irratibility, temper, fondness for beating others over the head, and general inability to work with people and negotiate agendas will backfire in his face. nothing will be accomplished but the pissing off and alienation of all parties at the u.n. unable to overcome the anger and alienation directed toward him by fellow embassadors because of a lack of charm and personal skills, i expect him to last no more than a few months before dying of a stress related heart attack, or perhaps a massive frontal lobe brain aneurysm brought on by his last fit of rage.

We need to start acting NOW..... 01.Aug.2005 19:12

I'm worried that Bolton will use his ideology to circumvent the concerns of the UN, so let's send him a big message this fall! There's a pro-peace and anti-corporate rally Sep. 23-26, so we need to aim at least some criticism at Bolton's contempt for international law. Especially if they try to plan a war against Iran, or Syria, etc. You get the idea.

bolton is part of the plan 01.Aug.2005 20:22

I.M. worried

This Bolton dude was supposed to be in place last month. The plan to attack Iran is hinged on Bolton keeping the U.N. at bay while the cheney/bush powers nuke the atomic facilities in Iran. Bolton is not qualified to be anything other than a pimp for bushco. This is just another example of how powerless "we the people" actually are. It should be very interesting to be alive in the next few years. It may be a struggle just remain alive. Vamos a ver

Madame Karnak

I think that we have to be peaceful, but I think that enough is enough. We need to stand up and be counted in huge numbers. If I have to crawl to DC, I'm going to find a way to go and I am bringing my son with me. Anybody feel like carpooling from Texas?

not again 02.Aug.2005 07:27

have we learned nothing yet? havent we learned that peace rallies dont really change anything?

tarN featherM

I have to agree with I.M. Worried. Bolton is just the belligerant nut who will stand in the fire while Bush-Cheney-Leeden & Co launch their disastrous "Armageddon" plan.

this is basically how I see it:

1) the US Economy is now running on fumes, having been pillaged on the order of ENRON

2) we are now many many TRILLIONS of US Dollars in debt, just servicing the debt will bankrupt the economy in less than a decade

3) the rotten vultures responsible for this are not limited to, but largely centered in the military-energy-infrastructure-pharmaceutical juggernaut (think about it: Rumsfeld, Aspartame, Halliburton, Asbestos, Carlyle Group, Bechtel...what is left after their rape of the planet?)

4) Bush-Cheney-Perle-Feith & Co used fictitious balderdash as a pretext to invade Iraq, with the explicit backing of BP, Chevron, Brown&Root, Bechtel, Carlyle and all the Kissinger-clone "security services" like DynCorp, Wackenhut, etc. These people are such cut-&-dried fascists it is TOTALLY AMAZING that anyone can accept their continued existence. Nonetheless, they needed to invade and occupy Iraq to (a) keep Iraq's oil from being bought by China & India (b) to prevent Iraq's oil wealth from threatening Israel (c) to threaten and demean any idea of independence among the other oil-producing nations of the Middle East and (d) to show the whole planet that the US military is NOT a sort of pacifying reactive force, but is a fascist monster that will slaughter entire cities entire nations to support the vampire corporations and their elitist fat-cat "owners"

5) the long-term objective is not to "spread democracy" (LOL !) but to create the phantom menace of so-called "terrorists" which can be fought eternally, rampaging from one country to another across the globe, raping whatever resources the victimized nations might have. apparently doing this the "slow way" (ie. loans from World Bank for "infrastructure" which goes into the pocket of Bechtel except for kickbacks to corrupt puppets, then "austerity" programs to jackhammer into poverty the nations who cannot pay back those warm and fuzzy loans that were given to them with such "good intentions") is not satisfactory, because the pain and suffering caused planet-wide is beyond the bearable limit. when the South "pushed back" on agriculture, it was a signal to the vampires that they would take off the kid gloves and just go to brutal fascism. oh, thanks a lot Henry Kissinger, you evil damn bloodsucker! how well your acolytes have learned!

5) however, not only has this whole neo-con fantasy backfired in their faces, but the US Army is now mired in a complete quagmire of its own making, Americans everywhere are reluctant to throw their lovely sons and daughters into Bush-Cheney & Co.s wood-chipper of so called "democracy spreading." ( Rage here! no humor in this! ) Therefore the fiends need another "event" to foment more flag-waving fantasies of "protecting the homeland."

6) therefore, Bolton is now "in place." may God-Buddha-Allah save us from their needed "patriotism inspiring event" that they have planned for us! you can bet your last dollar that whatever happens the so-called "news" media will have photos of young, male Iranians with beards within hours and we will be on "full red alert" for Cheney's evil nightmare plan to go into effect.

I'm sorry folks, but this is way beyond the irritating or funny stage. We need to save our country from these monsters now!

here it comes 02.Aug.2005 08:24

the setup

and less than 24 hours after Bolton is appointed, whoops! there goes a bomb in Tehran outside the British Air and British Petroleum offices!

now what would be the motive of anyone in Iran to do that?

does anybody have any clue at all?

however, this clearly smacks of something that Bolton can start to snarl about...oh, how convenient! gosh, these darn coincidences, huh Beaver! Well, guess I gotta go practice my softball pitching for the game on Saturday. these furriners just are so un-American! prolly they just like to bomb things like offices in their cities, you know Beav?

This clown Bolton seems like a caricature of the kind of personality that capitalist/patriarchal society specializes in producing - a loudmouth who kisses up to power, bullies those below him on some hierarachical chain of command chart, assumes that it is his right and the right of the nation he lives in to use violence against others if they can get away with it, and a lover of corporate/military values and methods. He is Bush without a rich daddy and with a few more brain cells. He would be pathetic if he wasn't so dangerous to the lives and wellbeing of others.

the American Conservative reports as much:

August 1, 2005 Issue
The American Conservative

Deep Background
Philip Giraldi, a former CIA Officer, is a partner in Cannistraro Associates.

In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doingóthat Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attackóbut no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections.

this thing here

if there is a war against iran, there will be a draft.

if there is a draft, there will be a war against iran.

whichever comes first, is a sure bet for the second...

oh, and just as predictably, 100% guaranteed in fact, a war against iran will be an utter and complete disaster from the word go. iraq, times 10.

likewise, just as tragically, that's not enough to stop the bunch of certifiable psychopaths, oil junkies and right wing idiots running amok in washington as i write this.

and yes, that cnn story is more than a little suspicious, to put it mildly. the dots begin to connect...
