Walk for Truth, Justice and Community Rally
Friday, June 17th - 4:00pm
SW 2nd & Salmon
March to NE Portland - 5:00pm
Jobs with Justice is supporting the Rural Organizing Project's 7 day, statewide, Walk for Truth Justice and Community. The Walk will highlight workers rights, economic justice, civil liberties, and immigrant rights. The walk will end in Portland where we will join with rural and immigrant communities at Senator Smith's office to call on him to support Oregon's needs, not the War.
Join us on the Walk for Truth, Justice, and Community June 12th-18, 2005. Rural Organizing Project, Oregon Action, and CAUSA are co-organizing the week-long march from Salem to Portland to defend our communities against current attacks and demand justice and equality.
PCUN is calling on all supporters to participate in the Walk - by marching with us for a day, attending mass rallies in Salem and Portland, volunteering to help on logistics, and spreading the word.
Why are we marching?
From Salem, Oregon to Washington, D.C., immigrants and farmworkers are under attack: In Salem there are currently 17 anti-worker, anti-immigrant bills, including proposals to deny immigrants the right to a driver's license, freeze the minimum wage, and give farmworkers a sham collective bargaining bill. In Congress, immigrants' rights continue to be stripped away under the guise of "homeland security," while the human and financial costs of the war in Iraq mount.
From June 12 -18th, we will march from Salem to Portland to demand:
* Economic Justice and Immigrant Rights.
* Protecting Civil Liberties and Civil Rights
* Funding Human Needs not Global War
Mass rally at the Capitol - Sunday, June 12, 2 p.m.
Dinner and program at PCUN - Tuesday, June 14, 5 p.m.
Rally in downtown Portland at Sen. Smith's office (SW 2nd and Salmon) - Friday, June 17, 4 p.m.
