DP convention calls for impeachment!

Once again, the Democratic Party divides between the rank-and-file and the "pols". The Democratic Party of Wisconsin, in the closing hours of its state-wide convention yesterday, adopted a resolution:

"CALLING ON THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO INITIATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST PRESIDENT BUSH, VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY AND DEFENSE SECRETARY RUMSFELD FOR HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS"

However, the "pols" are attempting what they strangely perceive as necessary "damage control" such that the resolution isn't appearing at places like the Democratic Party of Wisconsin website. And, of course, it isn't getting out into the world of corporate media.

Yet and still, it's a good sign. Go, Wisconsin!
Text of the resolution, as reported in DailyKos.com blog by "ColdFusion04" on Sunday (June 12, 2005) --
______
WHEREAS, the Downing Street Memo shows that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld began planning and executing the war on Iraq before seeking Congressional and UN approval;

WHEREAS, UN weapons inspectors showed prior to the invasion that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; and

WHEREAS, there is further mounting evidence that the Administration lied or misled about "mushroom clouds," "connections to 9/11," and "war as a last resort" as they sought UN, Congressional, and public approvals;

THEREFORE, RESOLVED, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin asks Congress to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld.
______

It is believed that Wisconsin is the first state Democratic Party to have passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld.

is maybe the most best and true progressive in the Senate -- and he represents Wisconsin!

I don't think he'd have any problem with voting for impeachment.

But it probably won't be approved by the party aparatchiks. And who cares? If Bush is impeached, as he deserves, it will be the PEOPLE that do it.

Let's be liberal with impeachment 13.Jun.2005 06:29

we should first impeach about one thousand of the truly guilty devils and then we need to turn towards the democrats... wow we could be impeaching for a long time. The more the merrier. Let's do a REAL house cleaning and return to a place in ourseves where we can recuperate pride in our humanity.

On Monday, June 13, 2005 at 1:34 PM CST the Capitol Times just posted the first mainstream news story: State Dems: Impeach Bush Cheney, Rumsfeld too By David Callender Let's hope this stays under wraps, or other state's Democratic Parties might follow the lead set by Wisconsin, and this whole impeachment thing might get out of control. Howard Dean could follow the lead set by the Green Party in issuing a nationwide call for impeachment. Wisconsin Democratic Party's call to impeach Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld gets no publicity!
