I just heard that
Dick Cheney's staying at the Benson. Will be arriving soon. It's 3pm on Sunday right now. Closed streets downtown already.
copters awfully low 05.Jun.2005 15:45

over my location near 33rd/NE Sandy, circling for at least 1/2 hour. One dark green early on, then and now one (?) red/white coast guard. Seems to be covering the I84. Nothing on Oregon Live or KATU web sites. If it were a drug bust or a car wreck, it would be all over the place.

Tin soldiers and Cheney coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
More stolen in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew that there
Were war plans for Iran.
How can you run when you know?

Cheney to campaign in Seattle for Reichert

Vice President Dick Cheney will visit Seattle Monday to raise money for freshman Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash.

Cheney's office confirmed the visit late yesterday. Cheney, who also campaigned for Reichert last year, is scheduled to address a noon luncheon at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle.

Lee Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for Cheney, said the vice president was looking forward to visiting Washington state.

"Congressman Reichert is an important member in the House, and we look forward to working with him on a number of issues," McBride said.

Reichert, who was elected to the Eastside district last fall, has been targeted by Democrats for 2006.

Reichert spokeswoman Heather Janik called Cheney's visit a sign of Reichert's effectiveness since becoming a member on Congress in January. "We're happy to see that recognized," she said.

Listen the corporate media wants this silenced so that little Beirut does not organize and protest the bastard.

By the way High SS.

Our duty is to get the word out! Call everyone you know and call the corporate media about not covering this. Since you are reading this it means you are online so send out e-mails! If you have a phone then call people like Code Pink! If you are walking or biking downtown then tell people to tell everyone. Do we have a protest in an hour or tomorrow morning? Are the Seattle protestors prepared for Cheney's arrival for tomorrow? Inform your friends and comrades in the Puget Sound.

Cheney makes surpise stop in Portland
6/5/2005, 5:35 p.m. PT
The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced visit to Portland on Sunday.

The vice president's motorcade arrived at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland at about 5 p.m. U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., told KATU-TV that Cheney was here to see a friend.

Cheney is scheduled to visit Washington on Monday, to raise money for freshman Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash. Cheney is scheduled to address a noon luncheon at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle.

WHO HAS TO PAY FOR HIS VISIT? 05.Jun.2005 18:44

QUESTION: Since this is a social visit, according to corporate news he is in town to visit friends before heading up to Seattle, are we the taxpayers going to be forced to pay for all of this protection he requires each and every time his sorry ass shows up in Portland? I say throw the fucker to the angry crowds and let him take the same chances on the streets that the rest of us do.

Potter!!!!! you better NOT give the people of Stumptown the bill! 05.Jun.2005 19:01

tax payer

Dear Tom Potter

You have impresed me with your open mindedness talking most importantly listening to all the people of Portland. You have shown great insight and wisdom that has inspired many of us to believe in a democratic republic on a local level. But please do not allow Dick Cheney the usurper of democracy to hand over the bill to the people of Portland for his pleasure trip stains our city. I would like that we dock the pay of officers who are giving special treatment for a man who is visiting during his off duty time. But I know that is unrealistic in these times of corporate rule. So I request that you send Mr. Cheney the bill for his vacation in Portland.

a PDX tax-payer

ps... please add a beer on the tab from me.

This is 100% true 05.Jun.2005 20:35

I work at the Benson

He's going to Portland and then Seattle tomorrow.

Time? 05.Jun.2005 21:00

I don't suppose anyone knows the time he'll be leaving the Benson tomorrow.

get to the benson NOW 05.Jun.2005 21:24

just stumbled across the benson and there are a few guys there with signs and ready to stay all night and protest NOW.

don't just sit at home and be pissed at the mass media for keeping it under their hats, get down their now and let your voices be heard!!!

i am home for a moment, calling everyone i know and asking them to call everyone they know, and then heading there myself. so, as of right now, at 9:23 pm, there will be about 7 of us there.

see you there.

time he'll be leaving 05.Jun.2005 21:44

There are flight restrictions over downtown in effect from today 4:10pm until tomorrow 10:00am
and over the airport tomorrow from 9:40am until 10:30am.

That should mean that he'll be leaving the hotel between around 9:40 to 10:00 in the morning and he'll be taking off at PDX no later than 10:30.

Everyone with a reason to protest should show up!!!
I will.
