International 9/11 meetups continue...

Most cities already have 9/11 truth groups but there's no mention of that here.

When a 9/11 post has no links or apparent awareness of ANY of the already well established 9/11 community, this is almost always a RED FLAG for more efforts to discredit us or something worse.

Right now the BOGUS European Tour of the millionaire (Walter)who has pushed PODS, MISSILES and NUKES is starting up and is pushing hardcore disinfo to try to mix with the real. They even have a person with them who writes for a paper who thinks Hitler should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Gee, the millionaire couldn't find anyone else to peddle nukes at the WTC???

And then, what do you know, an *international* 9/11 groups list . . .

True, we must always be on guard, but monthly 911 Meetups are not new and have nothing to do with Jimmy Walters. They are what anyone makes of them, whoever shows up to them each month.

Some of us have seen Jimmy Walter's recent appearance on the SHOWTOWN cable television show called "Penn & Teller BULLSHIT" (yep, that's the actual
name of the show on which he agreed to appear, "Bullshit"), and are more than dismayed. Perhaps somebody buys Walters' lines that 'any publicity is good publicity', or 'bad publicity is a sign that we're winning/they're feeling the pressure' crap, but I don't know of anyone personally who does. Walters can be heard to say on the show:

"I firmly believe that many of the alleged passengers on the alleged aircraft are still alive, and quite frankly, I think they were all working for the government." Also that there were no windows on the planes that hit the WTC; he believes that the aircraft were landed secretly at a military base, etc. He also puts on his Chicken Suit (anti- George Bush campaign related, although I don't think mention is made of that) and does the chicken dance while clucking, or whatever is the sound that chickens make in front of his red sports car.

Eric Hufschmid also appears on the show and speaks not only of 911, but also in the 'moon landing was a hoax' segment.

Of course, their 911 theories are loudly proclaimed by the shows hosts, Penn & Teller (a big guy and a little guy who never speaks) as BULLSHIT, and both Walters and Hufschmid are called "assholes".

Only saving grace I could see is that third segment mocked JFK Conspiracy researchers too, supporting the Oswald fiction. So believers in an assasination conspiracy might lend less credence to their other schtick.

Meetups have been around for quite awhile. I've been a member of the NYC Meetup group, for example, since 10/03 and have written about them here:

It's better to be away from the Meetup corporation anyway, although the fees they instituted are what spurred the change. Our group moved to yahoo since most people are familiar with their internet newsgroups, however google might have been a better choice since google groups could come up in google searches.

Meetups are where people meet each month to discuss 911 and the meeting's agenda is not set in advance. Whatever people who show up want to talk about is what gets talked about. See this webpage before the meetup corp.'s website (one of whose heads is the guy behind ebay, supported by Heritage foundation) kicks us off for non-payment of their newly instituted fee structure:  http://9-11.meetup.com/11/ Other cities, mostly in the U.S. I believe, also have & have had real, live monthly meetups, although I don't know what internet website they are using to work out the logistical scheduling and automatic e-mail remindering if they don't pay the new Meetup website fees. The international ones were added by Nico Haupt. They could be a good tool to meet up with other 911 truthers in the flesh, especially good for 911 truth newbies, I believe. Members come in all varieties, of course, sincere and not, and there's really something to be said for that human contact, makes it seem more real than just reading other people's thoughts on a computer screen. Of course, activists can work on their own also and don't need groups. But in-person contact adds passion. Reinforces that you're not the crazy one. And although true that there are other 911 groups in other cities, some of these have been co-opted by fake 911 opposition, so the monthly meetups can serve a good function, as they're not controlled by any particular (perhaps fake 911 opposition) group, just controlled by the people who attend a particular month's meeting with each attendee having input into the agenda for discussion.
